Split needs tourism money, even if this means catering to Serbs. The Tourism Authority has reached out to welcome the people of Serbia, but the people of Split, in particular, are apparently happy to shoot themselves in the foot. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere in Serbia, and I am a Dalmatian living in the US.

Well doesn't Istria have a lot of Italians and Italian influence? Italians are a warmer and friendlier people than Croats. ida - Italians are only 6% of the population of Istria so it must be the nice Croatians warmer and friendlier people. Then again that part of Croatia did not have to face Serbs murderous onslaught rampage and ethnic cleansing destruction of their homes and heritage. For the Belgrade inspired Grater Serbia that duped a large part of the Serb minority of Croatia fell hook line and sinker for Belgrades Serbia evil plans. Or maybe the grenade was placed in the Serb car by Serb radicals that are upset more and more Serbs are vacationing in Croatia every year. They new it would get media attention the verdict is still-out what the motives behind it are.

Why don't serbs vacation in Montenegro? When you couldn't take any part of Dalmatia, I thought you were just fine with Montenegro. Oh yea, they didn't want you stealing and bossing them around anymore either. As far as Istria, there are not many Italians there, but there are many Italian vacationers who go there. Why would you want to mingle with the Italians anyway? Wasn't big propoganda coming out of belgrade during the war that Croats were friends with the Vatican and the Italians, and how both were evil?

The Croats also faced harassment and intimidation by the Serb lead Yugoslavia between 1945-1989. The Serbs now realise that they aren't big brother anymore in the region- YU is defunct thank god. It's time to pay the piper brother!

The message behind this handgrenade-threat is:
"Krajina Serbs, if you return, we will kill you".

Besides safety unemployment is a great problem for returning Serbs.

It is not sufficient that the Croatian government is providing support in house-construction/-repair.

Something really effective must be done against the real discrimination, if Serbs try to find a job in Croatia.

"might I recommend Istria instead of Dalmatia"

Well doesn't Istria have a lot of Italians and Italian influence? Italians are a warmer and friendlier people than Croats - even to non-Serbs.
These Serbs that get threatened and attacked shouldn't be surprised after all these years. All Serbs who go there are taking the risk to themselves and their families. Perhaps no one should feel sorry for them at this point as they should've know better.

Maybe people should realize that many people in Dalmatia lost so much do to the Serb aggression in 1991-1995, especially those from Šibenik, Zadar, Kijevo, Škabrnja, Benkovac, Drnis, Knin, Dubrovnik, just to name a few. These people are the ones unable to move on. But its hard when you lost family, served in the military or had your house blown up.

I'm in Romania right now with Belgrade plates. No problems whatsoever. Keep away from Croatia and visit Romania instead. Much nicer, safer and better value for money.

Why is that strange, Lemard? Should he just have left it the car, and go for a nice ride along the coast with his family? Obviously, by putting it in the trunk, if it exploded it would give more resistence than sittng on the front seat. Or maybe, he should have thrown it into a car with Croatian plates?

The Serbs that visit the Split, Sibenik and Zadar coasts are more likely to be former Krajina Serbs returning to visit.

Nobody should choose Istra over Dalmatia for any reason.

If Serbs wish to go to the Croatian seaside, might I recommend Istria instead of Dalmatia? Less nationalistic idiocy there. In fact, hardly any.

...again and again, every day "good" news from "brothers" from croatia ... Politicians from zagreb deliberately use news companies for last 20 years to systematically write the worst things about all Serbs, and than these people who puts bombs and attack Serbs are just victim of news propaganda...
