Countrys have been doing it long time even in supposed democracys. Like in Canada the government was selling citizenships for $ 150,000. This was a the time when Hong Kong was reverting back to Chinas rule the result Chinese emigrants flooded Canada. The Hong Kong Banks were trying to divest them selfs from Hong Kong out of fear of the commies and gave the money virtually interest free to Hong Kongers that wanted to leave.

Of course selling citizenship to a nation that really isn't a nation at all seems to make sense. I mean Milo isn't an idiot. In the 90's he hopped on the Serbian nationalist bandwagon and cashed out when it wasn't cool anymore.

He knows all Montenegro is in reality is a Serbian statelet that he gets to run on his own without any influence in Belgrade.

That my "Montenegrin" friends, was the whole point to the referendum in 2006. Not pride, not oppurtunity.. just greed by a group of Tito's grandchildren.

Fellow Montenegrins,

Now that you've sold out not only Serbia but yourselves as well, how much will you get for your grandmothers?

Once a proud people with a proud history. Now... well you work it out.

The shame of it all.

the government is selling everything and you know perfectly that we are Serbs and i will and many of us will support serbia rather than that stupid government in montenegro. the government doesn't care about the people of montenegro and he is getting paid for them to do whatever as you see when we were one SERBIA-MONTENEGRO nobody dared to say anything but now its over . my money goes to serbia and not a fake place like montenegro and the Serbs there should separate from that gangster government now and join serbia before its to late and will be to late sooner than later.

This is stupidity. Why invest half million Euro in Montenegro to travel visa-free to Europe if you can invest 20-30 thousand Euro in Paraguay and do the same?

Ah, because Paraguay has a Mennonite ethnic German minority and no one in Germany gets the silly idea to kick Paraguay out of the Schengen "white list".

If it's about Ausländerfeindlichkeit and hypocrisy - there German politicians are among world's leaders.

Otherwise: Thaksin Shinawatra is stupid. Not just Serbian language is more tough to learn than Spanish... the girls in CG are less willing than in Paraguay + the average living standard/prices is considerably higher, too. Move out to the city of Francisco de la Mora or Encarnación.

Looks good enough for me...

Otherwise Germans still have some fond memories of Alfredo Strößner...

What an embassassment - "Citizenships for Sale in Crna Gora", courtesy of Milo Dukanovic. How much lower is this common black marketeer going to take this once proud people? He has sold out Serbia, sold out for Kosovo's recognition, willing to sell out to NATO, etc., etc. And now, Milo will allow any common money launderer to become a citizen for a fee. I wish Njegos was alive to ask him a few questions, and then break a gusle over his head.

"In Britain we already have a similar policy. We don't sell citizenship, but rich people can get permanent residency in the UK and keep their money off-shore in tax havens."

But this is something different! Those people with only a permanent residency still have their own citizenship, passport etc. and wouln't fall under the visa-free regime for entrance into EU countries.

If Montenegro comes under real pressure from the EU, then it should simply follow the UK rules.

We already knew that money can buy "favours" with corrupted politicians (everywhere), but that money can now buy you citizenship is new to me. What exactly is the point here? To attract investment or to provide refuge and access to Europe to dubious characters from all over the world, provided they can afford to pay for this privilege.
