"Mike, do no forget that the Serbs did the same in Kosovo regarding the Albanians. Once they had removed the autononomy status, they rmoved all the rights of the albanian majority. Serbs have nothing to point out to other nation." (Gladko)

-- Seeing as how you found parallels between the Croats against Serbs and Serbs against the Albanians, one wonders why you defend the first while condemning the second.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious Mike.

When a government fires you from your job, downgrades you to a second class "minority" and tells you that Mile Budak was a "great Croatian" - that's when it is time to start getting worried.

If Croats were serious about getting Krajina Serbs on board, they should have bent over backwards to reassure us in 1990/91.

But no.....

As I said, accept us for what we are, or leave our lands.

"Dont forget, Commentator, that the Serbs from Krajina had declared their independence in 1991, and did not want to be Croat citizens." (Gladko,)

-- Don't forget Gladko that Serbs from Krajina at first were pushing for regional autonomy but were pretty much forced to declare independence once Tudjman's shiny new state all but disregarded the Serbian minorities as non-entities. Don't forget that the Croatian constitution codified Croatia as the "national state of the Croatian nation [hrvatski "narod" instead of "ljudi"]. Don't forget that the national symbols of the new Croatian state were thoroughly Croatian in ethnic orientation (many of which carried emotional memories of the 1940s), and the Latin script was the only alphabet legally recognized while Cyrillic signs in Serb-dominant areas were taken down. Also do not forget all the Serbs in Croatia that suddenly found themselves out of a job because of Tudjman's practice of making sure every Croat was employed before anyone else. Finally, do not forget that any and all attempts by Krajina Serbs to work within this socio-political-cultural framework came to naught as Tudjman’s increasing apartheid system made it all but impossible for non-Croats to cooperate with. So even if they wanted to be “Croatian citizens” as you suggest, Croatia made it perfectly clear it didn’t want them.

Yes Gladko, Croatia did much to alientate its Serbian population to the point of radicalization. But I'm sure none of this is celebrated today as state-sponsored historical memory, is it?

Just say no to denial!

Some Serbs here are giving Croatians history lessons about who did what. Perhaps they should remember we all fought the Turks together. As well King Tomislav saved Serbs in the wars against Bulgaria a millenium ago.
Finally Serbia officially supports Operation Storm, as it further helped solidify Sovereignty, the Helsinki Final Accords, International law, UN Resolution 1244 and the precedents of sovereignty established since the Treaty of Westphalia.

Hey guys... don't you have any sense of humor? I wrote that in the hope some Serb/Albanian/American/etc would at least say:

"Wow, how sad. And how it feels?"

Than I would say:

"Oh well, I can say one thing for sure: waking up this way means more headache than if I wake up normally"

(Sorry, Joe, Szemi).

Croatian President Ivo Josipović said at the main celebration in Knin that Operation Storm had been carried out according to all rules of war, with respect for international conventions and that recognition ought to be given to all those who planned and participated in the operation.

So far I only recognized the Vatican representatives and their altar boys.

Croatia has all the rights to celebrate this day as a day of liberation after years of atrocities against its land. Don't you understand this, Mr commentator?
(Gladko, 6 August 2010 13:10)

No Gladko, I do not understand and will never ever tolerate this.

Am I not a "Croatian" too? because I am ethnic Krajina Serb?

You do not celebrate "liberation" from a foreign occupation as you dream up, you celebrate the genocide of your own "citizens" (the Serb ones).

Yes, that's right, go ahead and admit it, get it off your chest.

As I said, if you don't want us in your "country", no problem, but you have no right to take our lands and our homes with you.

Genuine equality in all ways or independence for Krajina.

It's what Croatia demands of Serbia wrt Kosovo, why not for Krajina? Lord knows we've suffered enough in the 20th century to deserve it.

Thinking about it, today is the 65th anniversary of the US committing genocide in Hiroshima and the 15th anniversary of Croatia committing genocide in Krajina.

So basically, Croatia committed this Genocide with US assistance on the 50th anniversay of Hiroshima. Which genocide would have been covered on the news that day? I suspect the Croatian one would have overshadowed the one in Japan.

Huh?

Serbian €U-fanatics should take notice how the "democratic" €USSR stay silent as their vassals in the baltic states and the Croats celebrate nazi & fascist atrocities. but to no surprize, they took part in it...

Jawohl, Herr Poglavnik!

And no double standards please - let's others (non-Serbs) liberate Eszék, Zágráb, Valkóvár - is that kind of spelling spooky a bit?

I am afraid, if that would be the case "Croatia" (a countrylet which did not exist for a millennia) would simply disappear into nothing.

Actually, you better of to cry mamma and ask Serbia or Austria for help... as you usually did, beginning with Josip Jellacic who 1848 did both. Neither Serbia nor Austria was enough to save your ass in 1849 and make "Zágráb" spelled the other way - ultimately tsar Nikolai I of Russia helped to fix the spelling.

Sorry for this, that's just the other side of the coin ;-)

Croatia on Thursday marked the 15th anniversary of Operation Storm during which the country regained control over the ethnic Serb areas of the country.

I'm wondering what is meant by "regained control"??? Haven't the Krajina Serb enclaves been living peacefully in these areas for hundreds of years? Were they a "threat" to the Croatians?? So now, 15 years after Operation Storm, do you feel better (or safer) that you've ethnically cleansed 200,000 Serbs from your midst? Only deeply insecure people cannot find beauty in other cultures, traditions, and religions. So Croatia is celebrating the forceable removal of hundreds of thousands of Serbs from their ancestral homes....what an accomplishment!!!

A painful moment for us Krajina Serbs ... I recall the Croat artillery fire trying to convince us to "stay in our homes" 15 years back.

Is it really necessary to doubly insult us with parades in Knin?? Do Croats know no shame??

As long as this "holiday" goes unchallenged in "Europe" one must also have doubts about what "Europe" stands for.

I suggest that Serbia and RS also adopt this day as a "holiday" and call it "Croat Holocaust Rememberence Day" ... let the Croats scream hysterically ... as we genuinely weep for our lost homes.

The truth will eventually prevail.

To the Croat "leadership" - either accept Krajinians as equals and cherish our history and identity as your own, or get out of my country.

As the "Kosovars" say, you cannot have the land without the people.
