What a joke, it is a disgrace that Croatia can celebrate ethnic cleansing. Operation storm not a crime, then why are the Croat generals facing war crime charges??

Instead of the Serbs who commemorate the victims of Srebrenica, it would be like them celebrating the "liberation of the republika srpsksa from the muslim occupation of their territory, and that it was a great victory for the freedom of the serb people"

same shit different wording, except one event is backed by the west to paint pictures of good and evil

both were ethnic cleansing operations, and the territories were not occupied they were serb settled villages who have lived there for hundreds of years.

croatia has become america's embarrassment. operation storm is like the Katyn Forest which will haunt croatia for decades. People will look at them and recoil in disgust. Their stupid attitudes will continue to keep them out of the eu - this is why they react this way when the subject is mentioned and it will continue to be mentioned when they celebrate it as a holiday. Serbia can always contrast them by saying that it never declared the anniversary of Srebenica as a holiday. If Greece, Romania, or Cyprus block their way, Croatia is toast.

Josipovic is right. In Croatia Operation Storm cannot be criticised by anyone - or they are labled some kind of traitors.

Kosor has always been this way and her statement is nothing new. I must say that the journalist who asked her the question, about how the three commanders of the operation were at the hague, immediately following her triumphalist statement should be congratulated.

I would love to have seen her face in that moment.

Interesting remark; the problem is that Milosevic cut a deal with Holbrook that sealed the fate of Krajina. Krajina is a failed policy of it's own Serbian leadership, first Babic followed by Martic who failed to negotiate a peaceful solution at the urging of Milosevic.

The remards of the Croatian official using words such as "Greater Serbia" is propoganda to continue to indocrinate the Croatian public.

Just reading through some Hague transcripts and reports,the prosecution against Milosevic admitted in 2005 that Milosevic never espoused or advocated an idea of Greater Serbia. Where the Croatians trick themselves and the world to believing the myth of a greater Serbia is simply, the Serbs wanted to continue living in Yugoslavia which was a right afforded to them
under the Yugoslav constitution which Croatia
was obliged to accept.
To get around this fact and
obligation a myth was created.
In fact Serbia did not exsist at that time but thats a fact that gets in the way of a good Croatian story, an excuse to ethnically cleanse 12% of it's population, illegally obtain 50,000 apartments and all the while distracting the world by screaming bloody greater Serbia.

Serbia made great sacrifices during WWI and WWII along with Russia in order to free Europe from the fascism that gripped Europe.

However, Yugoslavia was negotiated after WWI and Croatia freely joined , they were not forced as some of the right wing Croatians would like to say.

The founding proponents of the Yugoslav nations were the Croatian Strossmayer and of course King Alexander I Karadjeodjevic of Yugoslavia; foreign minister Nikola Pasic was against Yugslavia and a more unitarian state, maybe he was right.

The policies within the Monarchy in Yugoslavia alienated the Croatians.

Punisa Racic shot up Croatian leader Stepjan Radic and many of his cabinet members because Radic made a few jokes.

Punisa Racic was Montenegin, briefly held and then released. This is the mistake of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and this only further alienated the Croatians. Not all the blame should be placed on the Croatians and why blame Ante Gotovina, or General Pavkovic, General Lazerevic or General Sretan Lukic all jailed because they were good soldiers during the civil war in Yugoslavia.

Ante Gotovina did not have the power to tell his troops to pull out; Franjo Tudjman was giving the orders and lit up Knin.

Franjo Tudjman, Aliza Izetbegovic, Ejup Ganic, Stipe Mesic, Babic, Martic and many more are the political leadership that broke up Yugoslavia.

Babic and Martic, former leaders of the Krajina republic had chances to negotiate autonomous status at the urging of Milosevic, they never seized on it.

Don't blame the Serbian Republic, the Krajina leaders failed to see the impending disaster that fell upon them.

Glad somebody took the time to read the Milosevic transcripts, there is no better source to discover the break up of Yugoslavia. Milosevic was never a Serb nationalist, neither was Tito, they only cared about power.
