"The difference in interpretation is that you read it through tainted glasses with a high dose of bias while looking for any, I mean any reason to come on here and claim some kind of small victory. "

No, the ICJ was crystal clear, there's no need for interpretation. I simply read it literally, exactly like the ICJ deliberately has formulated their ruling, and it goes: Kosovo's UDI is perfectly legal, it's not against any international law, and in the special case, it's not against (the still valid) UN1244. The ICJ explicitely explained that it's ruling was NOT about the statehood of Kosovo and NOT about the right for secession.

Biased reading would be, for example: "The UDI was legal, and now other states have no reason any more to oppose to recognize Kosovo as a state." (just like some Kosovo politicians argue now).

About the "victory": The ICJ ruling was clearly a victory for Kosovo - but only a small and unimportant one with no consequences.

They couldn't go to the beach, Amer, because the UN officials were afraid that on the way, Hyteriqi would proclaim a UDI on Brooklyn, since there are many Albanian pizzerias there. Do you see the mess that recognizing illegal UDI's, by the US, has created.

"Nonsense! Did the socalled ministers of Kosovo read the ICJ at all?

The only "special" thing of this ICJ ruling has been, for Kosovo, UN1244 had to be respected, too. The whole argumentation of the ICJ WASN'T based at all on the "special case" idea. All other groups in the whole world are allowed to announce an UDI without being regulated under an UN1244, which makes things even easier.

- It seems like everyday, you ask the same question 'did you read the findings of the ICJ'.

I'm sure you're not the only one who comments on this forum who's read the verdict.
And, I'm sure that members of the Kosovo Parliament have read it as well.

The difference in interpretation is that you read it through tainted glasses with a high dose of bias while looking for any, I mean any reason to come on here and claim some kind of small victory.

Other than you, Jeremic, highduke, lids and a few more on this forum, how many others do you think agree with you?

Certainly, not the Serbian speaking commenters on this forum.

So what happened to Jeremic's plan to have all the non-recognizing Security Council states come out against Kosovo during this "debate"? Zannieri read his report, Jeremic read a statement, Hyseni read his statement, and that was it. They could have called off the session and all gone to the beach and accomplished as much as they did.

News Flash - Russia just recognized Kosovo independence!.................Not really, I just wanted to give the Albanians here a little sample of what they will never see or experience. But what may soon be a real news flash is, Serbia and Pristina Albanians driven back to negotiating table by popular demand of UN.

The future of both Kosovo and Serbia is in the European Union and NATO, and that is why we have to have good neighborly relations," said Hysteriqi.
He criticized the authorities in Belgrade for helping what he referred to as "the criminal Serbian para-authorities in Kosovo". Too funny, this clown says Serbs and Albanians need good neighborly cooperation, and then takes a cheap shot at Belgrade - and as a civilian guest, at that. There will NEVER be good neighborly cooperation between Serbs and Albanians - Albanians are trying to steal Serbian land, and the Pristina thugs murdered and ethnically-cleansed Serbs and other minorities from KiM - and this fool wants cooperation. Stop reading the "Talking Points" given to you by the US State Dept., you are not convincing anyone.

Albanians, re-negotiate your re-integration with Serbia because you're NOT GETTING ANY NEW RECOGNITIONS! Never mind the 30-50 needed. Face it: ITS OVER! And it's been over for a long time, you just won't see it because it's too hard to handle.

If I would be him, I would play the ball a bit lower, knowing that the whole Pristina regime could be called an "illegal authority", too.
(Top, 4 August 2010 13:06)
I think many here have called the authorities in Pristina illegal, no secret but in the international arena they have always been the lawful authorities of Kosovo, elected in UN mandated elections, however, the UN through UNMIK, and EU through Eulex has always said that the govts elected through Serbian sponsored elections are not valid, so he is only expressing the official stance of the international community.
If you believe that 1244 is the ultimate legal authority in Kosovo, you would have to the only legal elections in Kosovo are those sponsored through it. That authority has by the way been passed to the Kosovo govt, with the restructuring of UNMIK, but was never given to Serbia.

The UN here is encouraging talks, practically all members of the UNSC are encouraging talks with the notable exception of the US and UK. So who is holding up progress? Independence is irreversibly blocked and Kosovo will remain in a frozen conflict until negotiations begin. The question being, what is their threshold of pain?

independance can be proclaimed by every group of people in the world. Gays, lesbians and others now have the right to claim independance. Seriously, by using the old technique of massive repetition, sooner or later people will start to believe, if it is true or otherwise. Just have a look at Bill Clinton. If this guy was not having sexual relations, I'll give him one for old times sake. The same is true with the Albanians, practice what the master tells you. Now Hillary Clinton is taking over from Bill, and let me assure you that it is not cuddles with Bill....

What a diplomat. The problem with being stupid is that you think everyone is as stupid as you and will believe you when you say things that are... well... stupid. Like the ICJ recognised Kosovo's right to secede... sui generis etc. etc...

Calling the elected representatives of the Serbian community criminals is that what the Americans call a multi-ethnic society?
