I perfectly see you are not being into politics, although it controls you, me everyone.

One can argue communism and fascism were successful systems, one had food to eat, if they kept a low profile, they were let live in happy brainwashed subjugation.

The end of this era was harder in a country that was forcefully created on insane grounds of people of completely different ethic and religious background.

Try to make a big happy Mediterranean Republic joining forcefully Egypt and Israel... same thing as YU used to be, failed from the very start.

I'm tired of hearing about both you - Serbs and Croats - to be honest. Go settle your problems on the moon and leave everyone else alone.

Maybe if your country left us alone we would've.
Now go and tell your goernment to butt out of our affairs and you won't have to deal with us again.

HB I can well imagine that the nazis had similar ideas to you about the Jews.

The fact is if you are mature enough to have your own democratic state then you must accept democratic principles.

Either you would have preferred life in NDH or under communism, but you don't seem comfortable in democracy.

I think the international media has spent way too much time covering, analysing, and dissecting the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Some really horrific things happened in Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Liberia, yet these conflicts don't get as much attention. I'm tired of hearing about both you - Serbs and Croats - to be honest. Go settle your problems on the moon and leave everyone else alone.

When are you Serbs going to get it through your heads that you aren't welcome in our country. We don't want you to return, we don't wont you to swim in our waters and we are sick of the Serbs meddling in our affairs. They did it forcefully during YU and now they are doing it again. Call us fascists, call us un-democratic, call us what ever you like we simply don't care.

200,000 during oluja? and 200,000 before? highly unlikely. but then again, playing with numbers was always a mastery in the balkans...just look at jesenovac. case closed.

I'm struggling to think of any other nations in the world that celebrate the killing of innocent civilians and displacement of 100's of thousands of citizens as a public holiday.

as I said before not really much interested in politics."TiTo" call him whatever. But,if you had to ask ex yugo's the simple question "Which times were better- the pre war or post war?" I bet the answer will be obvious. There was money, there was work, travelling freely and many other advantages to any other European countries at that time. Nowadays what's left to be done???? Catching up but still a long way ahead. Most countries in the Balkans are still grieving and hurt. Sincerely wishing to all countries concerned the best to improve the economic situation and hope for a brighter future.

YU was a failed experiment doomed from the start. Would it not have been controlled by the "chained dog" aka Tito, would have been over much sooner but probably with much less blodshed.

JohnC, only an inhuman beast would cheer the misery and death of other human beings. How would you feel if someone was cheering the deaths of Albanians? Do you think your attitude makes the world a better place? I am Croatian, by the way.

At school back in the 70's I studied Yugoslavia as a whole nation.Very sorry this beautiful country had to be tormented and separated into several different countries. I was well aware it was one of the best if not the best country in Europe at that time. Not much interested in politics or anything that might have triggered the stupid war but looks like everybody had its own share now exept maybe Kosovo. Whatever, better look on the bright side for a better future and stop the suffering to all ex yugo's by offering better economic solutions for a better standart of living troughout most of the ex yugoslav countries.War tragedies are very hard to forget but time heals.May never ending peace reighn on all the Balkans.

How hypocritical of Serbs. You expect "international law" to save you with Kosovo, and in the exact same situation in Croatia suddenly you speak of "the suffering of Serbs." The "rsk" illegally occupied internationally recognized borders the same way in which those in Kosovo are doing. You cannot have it both ways.

A sad day indeed. Why is Croatia celebrating while their generals are in prison for this crime? Croatia is not ready for the EU, not now, not ever. It has too much Serbian blood on its hands, no matter who is or isn't in charge of this nation.

Mike

One side's liberation often ends up being another side's "ethnic cleansing". It's a pity that after 15 years Croatia still seems incapable of being the multiethnic "Western" European state it's leader/dictator Tudjman tried so hard to juxtapose against the Ottoman/Orthodox east. It's even more shameful its current democratic leaders continue to hold to the same HDZ-era historical narrative of noble liberation against "Greater Serbianism", regardless of the equally chauvanistic and apartheid-like policies that led to the alienation and radicalization of its largest minority.

Catherine

Will there ever be peace between Serbs and Croats? Do you even want peace? What do the two of you really want?

I afraid the anger and hatred will go on forever until an astroid hits, the martians land, or global warming burns up both countries.

One must remember one thing... that 200,000 Serbs had been already expelled from croatia by opperation storm. With storm, another 200,000 got kicked out. So the total number is about 400,000.

Croatian President Ivo Josipović said that it was a "legal and legitimate action that led to Croatia freeing its occupied territory".

How can Serbians, who have lived there for several hundred years occupy their own territory? Croatia in fact expelled several hundred thousand of their own citizens and celebrate that fact with the blessing of Germany and the EU.

Give Serbs autonomy because ancestors of Krajisniks died for 350 years as 2nd-class citizen permanent border guards on land that Croats left for Austria, Poland & CzechoSlovakia and didn't want to return to, which is why Serbs were brought in to do their job and earned Krajina with their inter-generational sacrifice of blood, sweat & tears.

I remember the August 1995 so clearly. It was a wonderful day when Croats but also Albanians were chearing in the streets, dancing and singing together. What a wonderful day.

Congratulation for the 15th anniversary of liberation.

Three generals are accused of war crimes committed during and after operation "Storm"! How come that the commander of Operation zone Zagreb, Mr. STIPETIC, has not been indicted???? It seems unlikely that he was not involved in one or another way in the killings of the fleeing Serbs around GLINA.???????????
