You know very well that is not what I was saying so why put such ridiculous questions to me then?
How to put words in one's mouth is all you Albanians know by the looks of things. Responding to someone boasting how important and well known Albanians are around the world is perfectly ok by citing one's own great achievers. Don't come to a gun fight armed with a knife.

-Ali Pasha: the founder of modern Egypt

Besides mother Theresa, and Albanians being in the Pizza biz, I have no idea who the other Albanians you named are. They are certainly not famous to the world, as you can ask the average, let's say American, to name a famous Albanian, how many could they name? Get my point? lili - Are all those people from Kosovo?

If you are talking about Albanians who live in other countries, then you forgot the wonderful late Bekim Fehmiu who understood and suffered because of his multiculturalism and broad mind.

I am certain that many on your list would hate to be used as your nationalistic icons. Many married into other nationalities and/ or had nothing to do with Kosovo.

Where is the link? And why can't anyone see how ironic it is that a special flag was designed and yet only the flag of a neighbouring state is waved? I thought all of this was about 'independence' - strange that.

Ups…! Mr. Jeremic ICJ for your information is the highest level jurisdiction which has replayed (gave its opinion) on your request. Tell us please, what your goal is? Nevertheless we are fully aware of your plans.
But, your intention to hypnotize entire world is sentenced to fail; assertion like “declaration of independence cannot be a basis…etc” is just an attempt in series to obscure the issue. Because ex YU crisis with all its consequences if you remember has happened just two decades ago, and it is as genuinely documented as ever of that nature before. Anyone knows that Kosovars have upraised, fought, built their institution in close cooperation with International Community and eventually declared independence, in aim to live as a normal society free off torture, assassinations, massive deportations, raping, killings etc. for more than a century under Serbia backed by Russians who even today try to foster Serbian dream without any reasonable basis.
As for the history of statehood establishments your ‘arguments” have no basis, since during the 60’s and 70’s dozens of nations have declared their independences, what makes this more intrigues is that your state has encouraged and recognized them all in raw. So that here you a suggestion: read, read and read history…

Sorry to break into your comment to David Jones but I have also had exactly the same experience. Serbians, Croatians and Montenegrins are around and mixing with our workforces, but the few Albanians I have met (who have all seemed very nice, by the way) are all introduced to me by their friends in those groups.

They don't seem to have mixed into the working or social environments in the same way in London or other European cities where I visit.

I have lived and worked in 3 continents and god knows how many countries. In all that time I have come across countless communties of expats from balkan countries (mostly Serbia & Croatia). In all my travels and exploits I have yet to encounter a single person from Albania and or Kosovo. Why is this? Is it because Serbs are so un-informed that they seek better prospects overseas and Albanians are so Informed that they stay in the Business Capials of the world (Pristina / Tirana).

That must be it then! Such an intellectual high society and there was me thinking otherwise. You must be proud of the achievements your country has around the world.

Thanks Dino for enlightening us to the vast intellect of your kin but must pop off now, toodlepip.

Dino, so long as Russia is on the security council nothing will change. The meeting will have the US and GB stating that because the ICJ ruled that declaring independence is not contrary to international law, Kosovo's statehood is legitimate. The Russians and Chinese on the other hand will point out that nothing was said about the legality of Kosovo's statehood, etc. This is a stalemate. It's like two men arm wrestling locked in neutral position. The problem for the Albanian camp is that so long as Russia, China, and most importantly Serbia, continue to insist on all those not recognizing Kosovo's UDI reading the actual court judgment, it will be hard for countries to recognize Kosovo. The only way they will do this is by arm twisting and other incentives offered by powerful countries. Stalemate, stalemate, stalemate. How does one break a stalemate? Negotiate!

Oh Albanians! Where are those new post-ICJ recognitions, hmmmm? Jeremic's early post-verdict panic comments seem to be a smokescreen. Someone should've told the 'ex'-KLA heading the temporary institutions before they brought out the champane & coke, that Belgrade likely had assurances from anti-UDI countries that they wouldn't flip even if ICJ supported UDI.

1832-03-04
Greek independence from Ottoman Empire recognised

It took years for Greeks too, but just like Ottomans were invaders in Greece, so are Serbs in Kosovo.

;) History makes mr Vuk look like a schoolgirl selling candy to babys.
Enjoy your sweet delusion.

Oh Albanians! Where are those new post-ICJ recognitions, hmmmm? Jeremic's early post-verdict panic comments seem to be a smokescreen. Someone should've told the 'ex'-KLA heading the temporary institutions before they brought out the champane & coke, that Belgrade likely had assurances from anti-UDI countries that they wouldn't flip even if ICJ supported UDI.

pss: "Or could be that someone with your overwhelming prejudices would either tend to dissociate you from anyone of the Albanian ethniticity or that you give off such vibes that they would tend to automatically dissociate themselves from you!"

Tadic had enough last time, where our FM Skender Hyseni-new Skenderbeg sent Tadic packing much before the end of the UN session.

The minister added that the unilateral declaration of independence "cannot be a basis for the normalization of the relations between Serbs and (ethnic) Albanians, as no attempt at secession in the history of the United Nations has led to the establishment of statehood of any territory in the world".!!!!!
Ups…!
So that here you a suggestion: read, read and read history…

lili - Are all those people from Kosovo?

If you are talking about Albanians who live in other countries, then you forgot the wonderful late Bekim Fehmiu who understood and suffered because of his multiculturalism and broad mind.

I am certain that many on your list would hate to be used as your nationalistic icons. Many married into other nationalities and/ or had nothing to do with Kosovo.

Where is the link? And why can't anyone see how ironic it is that a special flag was designed and yet only the flag of a neighbouring state is waved? I thought all of this was about 'independence' - strange that.

Dino, the now independent nations of the former Yugoslavia were republics, Kosovo is a province of Serbia, i.e., Serbian land, a part of Serbia, is Serbia. Do you understand the difference? Albanians can have autonomy in Kosovo, because they are now the majority population there, that has been offered. As for Jeremic, do you think you are smarter than he is, Dino? I would put my money on the Vuk.

Besides mother Theresa, and Albanians being in the Pizza biz, I have no idea who the other Albanians you named are. They are certainly not famous to the world, as you can ask the average, let's say American, to name a famous Albanian, how many could they name? Get my point? Albanians being famous to other Albanians is not famous.

Negotiate!

John Belushi was and Jim Belushi is albanian. But they belong to an Orthodox Christian family (not the islamic trolls you find on this board) and attended Greek Orthodox church. Regis Philbin is half-albanian. Yeah, we know where they are in america. If you want to know which pizza joints in NYC are run by albos, ask an Italian who lives in the neighborhood. Italian-americans are rather sensitive about people who desecrate their cuisine.
