What if the world doesn't care about your fight?

Majority do. Haven't you heard that 2/3 of the world haven't recognised you?
(Peggy, 10 August 2010 04:45)

No I have not heard that because there are no 130 countries which have said that they do not recognize Kosovo. I've just heard a few to have said that (Serbia, Russia, Cyprus, and few others).

Silence is not equal to "not recognize"

"The UDI is all America's invention"

Oh really how silly. Kosova made its UDI in 1991, not 2008, following a referendum in which over 99% of the Albanian 90% majority voted for independence. The reaction of the US and the EU was to ignore it and declare support for Serbia's "territorial integrity", despite Milosevic having already trampled all over Kosova's legal status. Rugova was even snubbed by Washington when he tried to get to Dayton to get as much as the Bosnian Serb "state" was being given for committing genocide in Bosnia, despite the fact that Rugova's movement had employed exclusively peaceful methods.

US and other recognition of the UDI in 2008 is thus a 20-year late recognition of reality.

The UDI is all America's invention, not to mention it's foreign policy of ignoring any laws, (winston, 2 August 2010 17:27)

Ignoring laws... what laws. I hope you are not referring to Kosovo's issue. Nothing illegal happened with Kosovo according to international law.

- You must be of the opinion that any attention, even bad attention is better than no attention!

Why bother when you know there's 3 vetoes. You know you will not accomplish anything. Well other than propaganda for the upcoming Serbian elections.
(johny, 2 August 2010 18:08)

Yes johny - and vice versa with the other two permanent members of the UNSC. As long as Serbia dont want their province (which they totally controls aprox 35% of) to be independent, Kosovo is blocked forever from being a real country. Period.

You cannot have a solution where one side proclaims "a solution", unilaterally. The UDI is all America's invention, not to mention it's foreign policy of ignoring any laws, and just pushing their agenda through with force. If any good will come out of the Kosovo dispute, it will be to show the world that you MUST have agreement between sides involved in conflict, otherwise, you have NO solution. I applaud Belgrade, and Vuk, for standing up to the giants, US and EU. They may not win, but they have managed to knock them down several times, and bring world-wide attention to their fight.

I would be more worried for Kosovo about what a resolution might mean if I didn't remember that during the late 1990s the General Assembly passed annual annual resolutions calling on Serbia (in whatever legal form it existed at the time) to stop abusing the human rights of its "ethnic Albanian" citizens.

It made those voting feel better, I suppose, but none of those worthy - but non-binding - resolutions had the slightest effect on changing the situation.

Serbian diplomats are now imploring the so-far non-recognizing nations to "wait for the General Assembly!" Then it will be "wait for the Security Council!" After that, what - "wait for Godot!" ?
