I agree supervised independence should end as should any monetary support from foreign government that the Kosovo government is provided. We should be giving loans to Kosovo, not grants, if they want to be on their own. You can't claim to be independent if you still rely on other countries to pay your bills.

Does this mean that the head of the Kosovo Central Bank and all the other thieves will get their jobs back? It is not as if the KPS has taken any kind of lead in the fight against corruption. They've just been opening and closing EULEX's car doors in between moonlighting as bouncers at nightclubs...

How about a promotional tourist campaign for Kosovo based around "Back to the Future...the 19th Century comes alive in Kosovo"?

America sure knows how to choose it's partners. Like they chose Bin laden, the Taliban, Pinocet, etc.,etc. Makes me proud to be an American.

What about partners like Germany, England, Canada, Australia, Japan, or South Korea? Do those count in your book?

It's OK with me, as long as they don't use my tax payer money.
"Since 1999, over $1.2 billion in U.S. assistance has been committed to the reconstruction of Kosovo and to building self-governing institutions and a viable economy."
Stop spending somebody's money and be independent!

What is being passed off as “assistance” is in actual fact money used for regime propping up (this is only the select few) and for Camp Bondsteel. There has been very little money committed to so called reconstruction.

Kosovo is very small in area and if $1.2 billion was actually put towards reconstruction it would have super highways that would put US road systems to shame; each family would be living in new homes with two or three levels. In reality very little has changed since 1999 and the Albanians call this progress.

Thaci will NEVER be allowed so called “unsupervised independence”. He is only talking through his hat – keep the natives hoping for something better.

This clown is against international supervision because the internationals have been locking up and investigating his fellow criminals... he wants EULEX out so he can free the convicted ones and get down to enriching himself in unsupervised criminal activities. Simple.

Thaci has been in the US for far too long. He brain is feeling the effects of going cold turkey and is not making any sense. If you want more damange to the independence cause then make sure you keep this guy in power.

-- Hash can be against it, but he knows that's the price to be paid for being a "special case".
