Anyway, the Albanians UDI proclamation was not illegal, but seceeding from Serbia is. We are back at square one.
(winston, 22 July 2010 18:50)

Unilateral declaration of indipendence and secceding are the same thing, by declaring indipendence, you ultimately seccede, or you can say that in order to secede you need to declare indipendence. I wonder how is it possible that a state can`t seccede, while its proclamation of indipendence which states so is totally legal ... maybe serbs should be informed once again that kosovo declared indipendence and not dependance ... There is no country in the world that seceded after bilateral discussions...all declarations of indipence of modern states were unilateral, the occupiying country has no interest in letting the occupied country go without a good strugle, it is like some kind of rule of nature.

I wish Serbia would be strong and quit relations and close down embassies for good (or at least for a very long time) of certain countries.
U.S. is getting involved in the Sandzak and will cause problems there too. I've noticed that U.S. aid gives a lot of donations mostly to the Muslims in Serbia.
It plays games and Serbia compromises itself continually in relations with key countries, which also send spies and push for manipulations of Serbians towards their agenda.

There isn't even much trade with the U.S. so why is the U.S. so involved in ever little niggling thing in Serbia - including its culture?

Washington also wants EU unity over doubling its defense spending which like unity over Kosovo is just not going to happen. What Washington wants for Europe is frankly irrelevant and has been for a long time. Still, it's nice to have the meaningless press bites reported widely still.

Justice was delivered today. Serbia asked the International Court of Justice and today it delivered its justice. Now its completely another matter if you don't like it but nobody can anything about it. One cannot satisfy all people all the time. You ask a yes or no question you got a yes or no answer. Now we're gonna see Serbia and the Serbs in the same position we've been used to seeing them. Engage in self-destructive politics and behave as a sore loser. Predictable since one always brings the other.

UN to rule for independent Kosovo, source

July 21, 2010 – 1:26 pm The ICJ Court will rule that Kosovo is an independent state, reports Nezavisne Novine from Bosnia.

The paper says that the ruling is the result of lobbying and the diplomatic pressure that the US has exerted on the UN.

The paper says that the judges were 8-7 in favor of Serbian position but because the Chinese judge went off sick, the Japanese one stepped in and sided with the American position, says the
paper.

The paper says that Medvedev and China’s Hu Jintao have already sent an official message to Serbia that their countries will not recognize Kosovo irrespective of the ruling.

This ruling, says Nezavisne, is due Thursday.

The paper says 3 other judges also sided with the independence opinion after US exerted its last minute pressure on them.

To my ethnic Albanian friends. This is your best and only chance to obtain independence. Go and get it - convince Russia, China, Slovakia, Romania, Greece, Spain and Cyprus and you're well on your way.

However, once the circus leaves and the tents are down, you'll see it was just one big show. Lots of spin from the juggling clowns but nothing much changes. The negotiating table is the only way my friends. It's one thing to declare independence and a completely different thing to achieve it.

The game was over a long time ago and this show is just for entertainment. Wait and see, in a week we'll be back to square one.

Cheers!

(Patrik, 22 July 2010 20:15) "

The US govt speaks for me (on this) - so what? No democratic government can satisfy 100% of its citizens, 100% of the time.

But I think it should be noted that government policy toward Kosovo has been consistent throughout a Democratic, a Republican, and another Democratic administration, and according to campaign promises made by the candidates of the losing sides in the last two elections (Gore and McCain), the policy would have been the same if the other side had won.

As for "bullying" the ICJ, the claim is preposterous - if we were inclined to do that, we wouldn't have lost cases before it directly involving US interests in the past.

A Bosnian source was quoted as saying that the vote was 8-7 for Serbia. The Chinese judge went sick and a Japanese judge replaced him, another three votes were changed due to undue pressure from the US. The vote is reported to stand at either 9-5 or 10-4, maybe someone can confirm the vote count."

A Bosnian source????
Good grief. Tadic and Jeremic are happy to have followers like you. They can do no wrong as long as they blame the West and you're more than happy to believe it.

Fortunately for Serbia, majority of Serbs probably disagree with you.

Patrik, we are ashamed that you're American! If you don't like it here then, perhaps you should get yourself a one way ticket out!

Not sure what hole you came up from, but what gives you the idea that there is some affiliation with myself , Tadic and Jeremic. Go back to high school, improve your grammar and maybe than you can conduct a proper debate.

What makes you the compass of Serbian citizens reactions to the co called ICJ ruling?

The source is quite valid and entirely correct.

Are you so naive to believe that the ICJ actually ruled on the validity of Albanian false claims of statehood .

Its an absurdity and insult to international law and the Helsinki accords including all other international precedents.

If you have read the entire text is very concise and strict on the territorial integrity of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Milosevic held out until that clause was put in.

Slobodan Milosevic for all his faults was an outstanding lawyer and the Hague Tribunal transcripts provide proof without a reasonable doubt he put Hague judges and lawyers to shame to the point where had had to be murdered.

Legally, it cannot be challenged, only politically and the ICG ruling echoed a political ruling on declaration.

The ignorance and lies of this deciteful government are unbearable. Other countries know this and will not follow the advice of a tyrannt government like the US. This ruling has solved nothing. What people fail to understand is...its not illegal for Kosovo to declare independence according to International Law. However, what violates International Law is Kosovo trying to seceed/separate from a sovergn nation like Serbia without her permission. If Quebec wanted to declare independence from the rest of canada they could but they would need the permission from the whole of Canada whether through a referendum of sorts in order to have this made legal.

Anyway, the Albanians UDI proclamation was not illegal, but seceeding from Serbia is. We are back at square one.
