"How to stop wave of recognitions"

Daily Politika writes that it is hard to predict what would happen at the UN General Assembly on September 15, while many expect new Kosovo recognitions.

Politika’s sources stated that "there would probably not be a huge new wave of recognitions", but that there might be "several dozen countries that will recognize Kosovo soon".

Can someone please explain the above sentence? According to this statement there will not be " a huge wave of recognitions" but at the same time " several dozens may recognize Kosovo"
This is a contradictory statement because "several dozens" would mean more than half the countries in the UN would have recognized Kosovo's independence.Remember 69+ "several dozens" could signify over 100 countries.Of course after this objective is reached by the albanians the serbs still count on Russia and China to block Kosovo's seat at the UN, but this is another chapter.Russia and China might change their position one day, but the countries that have already recognized Kosovo would never go back. This is a big difference, a huge one for who wants to see it.

The actions of Pristina has ensured that the Balkan tinderbox is smouldering.

Sorry Niall but history in Kosova doesn't start in 1998 like you seem to think. We tried non-violent resitance with Serbia for a decade under Rugova and all we did we lose even those few rights we had.

Of course you wouldn't expect anyone not to react when your most basic rights are being trampled on. I don't expect you to kow any of this as your bias won't allow you to see past 2004.

As a US Citizen, I find the US as being hypocritical. No one mentions the fact that the US fought a civil was in 1861-1865 over the right of the southern states to secede from the union. Now the US is arguing the opposite. The US loves to preach to the world while doing whatever it wants internally. Someone should bring this out publicly.

Not a huge wave... but several dozens...

So does the RS and the Albanians of Macedonia?

Come on, whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
(Niall O'Doherty, 22 July 2010)

Niall I hope you realize that no Albanian will find a problem with all the minorities declaring independence as we could grab half of Macedonia in the process. We don't want to turn the Balkans in a tinderbox just want to leave in peace.

If North Mitrovica can decide on a single party to rule them then they should declare Independence from Kosovo. Why not? The North is at least 90% Serbian and the territory they possess if of a reasonable size. The economy is pretty much the same as Pristinas. So I guess being there is really no real precedent for International Law then it should be agreed at an International level.

Jeremic should resign. He gambled Serbia's chances by asking ICJ to decide about it.

Now, besides the political and economic support, Kosovo has the legal argument as well. There was no need to ask ICJ. At this point any serious statesman would have offered his resignation.

It's absolutely so. Serbia would have been in much better position if simply refused to recognize "forever". Jeremic, energetic but with the maturity of a child blew the K-case for Serbia again. It antagonized most of western countries, slowed down into maximum Serbia's EU process and lost the opportunity for Serbia to bargain Kosova for much more. He was warned several times but the stubborn kid, had to have it his way.
It's without a doubt that Kosova stands today in much better place than yesterday. Serbia has no political, moral, social and now legal right to claim K. as its own.
As always, thank you to Jeremic for his puberty.

the ICJ has ruled that Kosovo's declaration of independence does not violate any international laws and that the people of Kosovo have the right to self-determination!!
