This is a step in the wrong direction. "The declaration of sovereignty by Kosovo and its recognition will doubtlessly be taken into account in [Russia’s] relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia". Georgia (South Ossetia and Abkhazia) is the most dangerous flashpoint. The Bible says: "At the appointed time [the king of the north = Russia] will return back [will regain the influence, which it lost after the break-up of the Soviet Union] and come into the south [many indicate that this might be Georgia], but it will not be as the former [1921] or as the latter [2008]. For the dwellers of coastlands of Kittim [the West] will come against him, and he will be humbled, and will return." (Daniel 11:29,30a) Then Iran will be humbled also. "But ships will come from the direction of Kittim, troubling Asshur [Russia] and troubling Eber [inhabiting on the other side the Euphrates]." (Numbers 24:24a, BBE) At that time, peace will be taken from the earth and the "great sword" - nuclear sword - will be used. (Revelation 6:4) However, it will be neither the great tribulation nor "the end of the world" (Armageddon). As Jesus foretold, that will be "the beginning of birth pains". (Mathew 24:7,8)

lala4ever, if you study the previous actions of the US the next logical step would be to separate "Sanjak" (Raska Oblast). This would connect Kosovo with Bosnia through Sanjak and create an islamic "green corridor" straight through the Balkans.

It may be cynical, but at least this geopolitical reasoning brings some method to the madness.

And with the same reasoning they will not support Vojvodina to separate because Hungarian nationalists are not working for their (the western globalists) agenda.

So Russia retains control of Abkhazia and South Ossetia - but what about the North Caucasus and the rest of the political units of "the prisonhouse of nations?" Zhirinovsky is already calling for Russia to disencumber itself of the North Caucasus, since - he says - Chechens etc. will never live in peace with Russians. As for the Abkhazians, they're seeing their country being taken over, from beachfront property to railroads, by the Russians, and the Ossetians, all 70,000 of them or so, are subject to the direct rule of a minor thug. Georgia is taking a more intelligent approach to the loss of its territory than Serbia did - it is working to develop its economy and society to a point that it will make its former citizens reconsider their choice. Georgians have been there since the Stone Age, they can afford to take the long view about regaining territory.

I cannot believe that someone disagreed with Karlsdad. Does someone think that powerful nations should behave in a unilateral way, and disregard international law when it suits then, but cry out loud that some country is breaking international law, again when it suits them? Are the ones that disagree Albanians, and just see their own situation, where the US trampled on international law to achieve its objectives in the name of "humanitarianism?

This is a very good article highlighting the US's "Might is Right" foreign policies. It is quite troubling to realize that powerful nations can, unilaterally, behave in any way they want, without fear of retribution from anyone. What is the purpose of having international laws, a UNSC, or a UN for that matter, if powerful nations ignore them?
