I'm a born muslim (albeit not religious) and I fully support this ban.

Wether it is in Islam or not its irrelevant - full face veils are horrible, intimidating, discriminating, oppressive to women, rude, and have no place in 21st century.

I could never have a proper conversation with someone wearing a full face veil, and therefore they are also divisive.

Can you imagine Sweddish girls walking with G-strings in the middle of Tehran ?

Stoned to Death,

BAN THE VEIL NOW OR GO HOME

The "diversity culture" excuse is reherring and won't wash.

To accept the Veil & Burqa as cultural manifestations then our societies will be forced to accept more gruesome ones like "honour killings" and female"genital mutilation".

All these medieval traditions
must be eradicated once and for all.

Working in Manhattan, I see just about every kind of cultural and ethnic clothing imaginable. One thing that I do not see as I pass police and National Guards with AK47s is anyone completely covering their face. Religion, "fitting in" & societal norms should never have been a consideration here. Hiding one's identity in a public place is public risk, whether they are female or male.

I hate the idea of women being covered from head to foot, especially young girls, and it is oppressive. But it is part of a culture that is here to stay, and rather than liberate women, a ban may well curtail their freedom of movement.

Perhaps they won't be allowed out if their husbands and families are strict. Girls won't be educated and women won't be able to move freely in our society. Nobody wants that.

I would like the full cover veil to disappear, especially in these times of paranoia about terrorism, but in practise I don't believe that things are that easy.

And the oppression of women, or any other group, is never that visible. There are plenty of cases of serious oppression which can't be seen.

A woman wearing any type of veil is likely to have problems fitting in socially and to encounter prejudice.

But I do understand the security fears of the full veil, which seems to me to be the strongest argument.

I am sick and tired of muslims wanting all their rights to be honored in Western countries, yet Westerners must adopt and honor all things muslim in islamic countries. If islam wants to force their women to hide their faces, then stay live in an islamic country, and leave Westerners alone with your primitive practices. Besides, these burka-wearing women freak me out.

Good! The rest of Europe should follow suit to stop this oppression of women.
It is not even a part of Islam to where the veil.
I'm pretty sure the police would have something to say if I were walking down the street wearing a balaclava never mind going into a bank with one on, therefore why do we allow these oppressive veils?

Also I'd like to point out to all Muslim women in Europe who wear the veil, you're living in Europe not a desert. You don't need the veil to protect you from the high temperature of the sun and to protect you from the sand, because that was the original purpose of these veils.
Now they have been hijacked to oppress women!

The veil is not welcome in Europe!
