But you can't do anything about it. They just have those special talents going for them. I just read a very interesting article yesterday about the port of Hamburg and the economy of Hamburg. What a bustling place with a florishing export when the rest of Europe stagnates. The other Europeans should learn from them!!
(Joe, 10 July 2010 03:05)

Germany is heavily dependant on exports. Sometimes thats a good thing, sometimes thats a bad thing. That most countries in Europe should emulate Germany is a nonsense - that would be a disaster to try. Germany has a fantastic reputation for engineering quality built over decades. If it ever loses that then it will have terrible problems but I can't see who could realistically gain that reputation.

What I find distasteful is the arrogance displayed in particular in respect of the Greek situation. Let's not forget the Euro was essentially a Franco/German project with the German export driven economy reaping the benefits for years. Now they complain when they have to prop up other eurozone countries. With the benefits comes the obligations. They acted far too late and at a much higher price. At least some of us made lots on speculation.

"Germany's power doesn't rely on the government,..... but in its industry and people. You can be sure that this will not only outlast this financial crisis but will make Germany even stronger. The newest data, regarding exports, is simply marvellous. The German engine is mercilessly working despite all the obstacles. Good quality always prevails."

Germany's power doesn't rely on the government, even when the CDU is maybe the most competent party, unlike the Liberals around the FDP, but in its industry and people. You can be sure that this will not only outlast this financial crisis but will make Germany even stronger. The newest data, regarding exports, is simply marvellous. The German engine is mercilessly working despite all the obstacles. Good quality always prevails.

So, good luck with your Chinese "friends". I'm sure that they will certainly find some good jobs for you, some which are either to expensive or to dangerous to be performed by Chinese. If you just want a sample of that then just ask some African nations which are already in full Chinese hands, such as Sambia, and check what happens with the workforce there. To call that Manchaster capatilism would be to weak.

Hmm... the vote was 455 for, 155 against, and there were 28 abstentions... isn't that a clear stance of what Europe wants Mr Serbian Foreign Minister?

Your choice and don't even a second that we will regret your withdrawal. If it would up to the majority here in Germany, you wouldn't have been even asked to join. Become if you like a Russian or Chinese province, your choice.

Because, of course, your membership to the EU has been entirely fruitful hasn't it?? How much exactly did Germany have to donate to the "Keep Greece from bankrupcy" fund? Anyway, the main point is that it is not just up to you so your point only serves to demonstrate your own anti serb bias.

The resolution, which encourages all EU member states to recognize Kosovo, was supported by 455 MEPs, whereas 152 voted against.
--
Wow, now that's quite significant. Over one third are against independence at the MEP level.
==
Previously, the draft that was sent to MEPs for voting passed the EP's foreign affairs committee with a narrow majority.
--
This is even more significant and it demonstrates that only negotiations can put this issue to rest. It looks like this has backfired on the EP when much opposition is obvious. The EU has a wedge between its members so the authors can either keep their heads in the sand or work out a feasible compromise for all.

RIP "Kosova" independence. Now it's time to resolve this matter once and for all.
(Zoran, 9 July 2010 11:33)
Actually 455 + 152 = 607 votes therefore 25% or 1/4th not over a third.
Pretty much sums up the rest of the comment.

We must not forget the support given to Yugoslavia, upss Serbia, by Non-Aligment Movement.

This EP resoltuon comes to Serbia as anothoer blow after the UNSC meeeting. Once again, Serbia was allowed to bring facts in front of UNSC, but failed. Probably, this was the last time that Serbia brings something to UNSC.

"Stefanović said that the fact 152 MEPs voted against the draft showed there was disunity on the issue, and added that the adopted document was declarative in nature, and had was not binding."

What kind of a "serious" comment is that? This was the European parliament and not the Russian or Northkorean one where "unity"-votes are to be expected for certain reasons of course.

You can tap around as much as you like but you won't change the fact that the decision to adopt this resolution has been made based on a thunderously big majority. That is a clear sign that Serbia will not go anywhere near the EU with its stance. So, you either change your stance or you listen to your doom-bringing and fascistic Serbian elements and abandon EU. Your choice and don't even a second that we will regret your withdrawal. If it would up to the majority here in Germany, you wouldn't have been even asked to join.
