WHAT A JOKE!!!

The illegal cabs are protesting because the legal ones want to be able to pick up passengers at the airport?!

The situation with taxies at the Belgrade airport is a DISGRACE! Imagine. The first impression someone has of Serbia is getting robbed - and that's what happens to anyone who hasn't been to Belgrade more than a few times or hasn't been warned in advance of the trick to go upstairs.

The illegal cabs should be gotten rid of once and for all.

If Belgrade wants to start pretending to be some kind of world city, this is the best first place to start.

Last Tome I was there one of those Mafia taxi drivers tried to hit me and the police just stood there like a wee lost sheep.

Those vultures that sit around the airport charge 50 Euros to get to downtown Belgrade, while the regular cabs charge only 9. My cabbie told me that the police were getting paid by the "taxi mafia" who make a living off of overcharging people

They do it unfortunately and even seasoned travelers can't avoid that rip-off if they have heavy bags. The S.O.B. had "funny" meter and the result to the station was close to 30 Euro: I had two huge suitcases with Macs hidden inside.

Arriving in Budapest wasn't any better: the gypsy cabbie first agreed on the price - but broke the promise as I reached the destination.

Belgrade airport is pretty bad, the Keleti station in Budapest is the worst taxi stand. The money changers at Keleti are pretty funny, too: they sell Euro for the bank rate (about 280 now) - but buy Euro for 220 Forint, the worst rip-off. I wonder, why no ATM-s there?

At least, BG airport and the station are not that bad... free WiFi at the airport and no rip-off at the money change office makes sense. I still think, countries should present them self much better and smarter at the station and at the airport. See Changi in Singapore!

JAT has an air-conditioned shuttle bus that operates every 30 minutes from the airport to Zelenicka Stanica and Trg Slavija. Last time I was there, it costs only 300 RSD.
