Postal service manager arrested

Police have taken Serbia's postal service, PTT, Deputy Director Miloš Miščević into custody on Sunday, in connection to a recent election scandal.

This is of course scandalous but highlights the real issue.

People in Serbia should not be hired on whether they are members of political parties, they should be hired on ability / effort alone.

We should at least try to live in something like a meritocracy, and not to be wed to the old habits like the (formerly Communist) party member gets the job and the non party member gets nothing.

That would prevent or minimise these types of scandals because no manager would owe their appointment to a political party and feel that they have to pay them back.
