Bganon thanks for the reply. Honestly I don't get bothered much by all this. I commented on the topic at hand, "Serbia's ouster out of the World Cup" and gave my 2 cents on the topic. I only made a side remark referring to the ouster of Partisan Belgrade by Flamurtari of Vlore in 1987 which produced a flurry of replies.

Zoti your point might stand if Serbs are not censored for claiming genocide against Serbs in Kosovo.

I have not made such a claim so I would not know. But my point is that claims like that cannot be bandied about unless they are based on at least some documented evidence. With the case of Srebrenica I am pretty confident that Roberto or some similar person who states that Serbs comittted genocide in Bosnia would be published.

On the other hand if an Albanian states that genocide occured against Albanians in Kosovo that may well be unpublished. I don't know.

In the past I have called for B92 to publish a more comprehensive list of rules.

As for the kind of ganging up you are talking of I've seen it before. I tend not to take part. But you know there are national stereotypes and there are even stereotypes where there is a grain of truth - those ones may hurt the most. But what to do? Not everything can be censored.

The worst thing of all is when some muppet flames / lies about you (its happened to me before) and B92 judges your response over the top. And the lie goes unanswered.

Zoti

pre 13 godina

Zoti I really don't think that B92 censors opinions, unless they advocate violence etc. It does censor the way those opinions are expressed, sometimes too much, and maybe sometimes too little.

I think anybody who gets censored (myself included) gets pretty annoyed but the answer is to express your views in a calm manner I suppose.
(bganon, 25 June 2010)

B82 has specifically censored my comments for including references to "genocide" regarding certain Serb actions. Yet Serb comments containing all sorts of insults towards Albanians are routinely posted. Are we required to be calm whenever obscentities and insults are hurled at us?

I understand this is pro-Serb site so obvioulsy there will be some censure even if the moderators are themselves not aware of it but sometimes it's just too much to take.

Szemi try to keep it ad hominem like Peter was, there's no need to generalize all the Albanians by my behavior. We are not all sheep who think in unison, although to you we may look like we are.

If you guys think I am bothered by this you're all wrong. This is probably the least combative I've ever gotten with Serbs online. It's way worse on the non-moderated websites. At least here there's civility.

You, sir, on the other hand, seem to take things too seriously. May I recommend you do something to curb that aggression, perhaps growing a moustache, putting on a puppet show or something to that extent.
(Peter Sudyka, 25 June 2010 18:22)

Indeed in general albanians take everything too seriously and behave like a touchy kid.

Whatever, I laugh at Polish jokes as well, and anyway they are interchangeable with Irish jokes or with anyone else essentially.

Piotr, what can I say I am indeed a serious person and have no sense of humour. But at least I don't get out of my element and make a fool of myself like some others who come across as epic fails.

And where did you see this "agression" from me that you are talking about? Is the "Albanian Boogieman" in your psyche that's playing tricks with your mind.

Zoti- please let me know of an Albanian site where Serbs can express their views as you can.
(Zeka, 25 June 2010)

Zeka, first off all my views always get censured on this site whereas the Serb views seem to get by unfiltered.
Second try googling and you'll get your answer. All I did was run a search for "Peggy, Serbia, Albania" and voila.

Zoti
This is like one of those scenes in those American movies in school, where there is always one nerdy kid that's always picked on. Well, Albania is the nerdy, picked on kid of the school of Europe.
(Peter Sudyka, 25 June 2010)

Honestly I don't mind being picked on by Serbs as they have a reason to. Whereas you as a Polack tick me off as the Polacks are the butt of jokes in the U.S. but I guess sometimes it's easy for the abused to turn into the abuser.

Otherwise the performance of teams from central Europe was a disappointment. Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia did not do well. There was no power to continue to the final stage in these teams.
(Ataman, 24 June 2010 10:49)

Oh you madari never fail to entertain .Looking down slovaks who advanced to the next round beating the previous world champions.I know you think that slovakian history can be summerized in one SMS but we have bright future. If we were the part of Great Hungary we would be sitting at home now,but since we are independent our team does the best to make inhabiants of our beautiful country happy. You can ask Emese to prepare Gulash for you and sipping it you can enjoy our next game. Here in our lovely vilage Horne Semerovce or Felsõszemeréd as you hungarians tend to call it we have a great time singing all day "nase pekne slovenske hory".I think in our little settlement more kids play soccer than in your Budapest where as I heard plaza visiting has become the most popular activity among kids.

Zoti,

I admit, I was by far the most poisonous today regarding your football. But if you look with more attention to detail: these donkeys I was referring to came as a well-deserved answer to one of the worst trolling.

(Ataman, 24 June 2010)

It has become the norm here that whenever an Albanian says something outragoeus people go on a tirade against our whole nation. Not only do we have to put up with Serbs but also the Hungarians, Greeks, Russians, Poles, Irish and the Swiss.

If I have to say something to a particular poster I specifically single out that poster to put down not his whole nation. But you guys get the benefit of B92 moderators who pick and choose the cooments. Apparently it's ok to post several comments about Albanian donkeys but to attack certain Serb posters it's not kosher.

Zoti,

I admit, I was by far the most poisonous today regarding your football. But if you look with more attention to detail: these donkeys I was referring to came as a well-deserved answer to one of the worst trolling.

That trolling had ill-wishes for Ghana team because their coach is Serbian.

Sorry - "team Albania" did deserve these donkeys today - say "faleminderit" to that royal troll. That's how it works.

Serbia was good, they only had no luck.

they beat Germany and that´s already enough for the first time competing as "Serbia".
(Jovan, 24 June 2010)

Serbia was good but not good enough. Your attack was very poor and had no teeth, 2 goals in 3 games and the one against Germany was basically a rare giveaway by the German defense. In the Australia game you had legitimate chances to score and failed time and time again. Maybe it had something to do with having a forward who's more suited for basketball than football.

The defense was poor as well. Two unnecessary penalties conceded to Ghana and Germany. That Ghana penalty I believe cost the Serbs the tournament as it gave Ghana 3 valuable points and robbed the Serbs of a precious 1. Ghana were rubbish againts Australia even though the Aussies were a man down for most of the game.

Overall not a bad performance for a first appearnace in the World stage. Definitely somehting to build on for the Euros.

And for those making fun of Albanian football guess who came out victorous out of the only confrontation between Albanian and Serb club football?

That's what you get with a striker like Zigic. He was pretty much useless. I questions the judgment of the Coach for selecting him.

Serbia played a good first half, but could not put it on the net. I do think Serbian players should be ashamed of themselves because they were a much better team and they lost to to one of the worst teams. It's just ridicules that they lost two games.

In other news, Kosovo is actually represented in this world cup with three players in the Swiss team. Every commentator here in the US has mentioned the fact that Behrami & Bunjaku are from Kosovo. Albania is a different story, they pretty much suck at this.

I think, it's Vietnamese twin called "Bo Ko" tastes better than gulash. You can try it out in Belgrade, there is a good all-you-can-eat Asian restaurant inside of Belgrade casino. Make sure, you have a Serbian passport, Illyrian passports do not exist since at least 2000 years and Albanians have as much to do with Illyrians as donkeys with football.

This is the first time that Serbia represented only Serbia. That they qualified to begin with was admirable. Maybe one of the Serbian posters can tell me but I was puzzled by the performance of Serbia last evening.

At the outset, let me say I was cheering for Serbia. However, I think that they could have gone further.

I thought that the Serbian players were far more talented than the Aussies, far better ball skill and so on but the Aussies had the greater hunger and desire to win ( and were far dirtier - I thought Wilshire should have been sent off for one particularly blatant foul ).

Why didn't Serbia show the fire that the Aussies had and seemed only to wake up in the 2nd half?

Admittedly, some of the ref's decisions were poor and unfair to Serbia. Every nation complains about unfairness - just look at our (Irish) reaction to the handball by Thierry Henri that knocked us out in the qualifying rounds but there is little point in moaning afterwards about the referee unless you are certain about your own performance. I cannot fault individual players but is blaming it on the referee the best way to examine how to do it better in future?

I think that the Serbian players are individually great footballers and Serbia did very well to qualify for the World Cup and to beat Germany and can hold their head high. I do not question anyone's commitment but why were Serbia as a team so relaxed in the first half - a serious question that need to be addressed, I think.

Serbia lost because we have no world class striker. How many chances has Zigic missed in the 3 games he has played ???
We can complain about the penalty decision as much as we like but the Australia game should have been over by half time.

They had so many chances in the first half! How depressing, but a good game to watch. Australia played well.

In true World Cup complaining style: It was a hand ball and should have been a penalty!! AND one of the Serbian goals did not look offside.

But next time round... good that Serbia got that far and beat Germany. Let's hope Ingerlund can do the same!

As for the comments about being glad that Serbia lost... well my fellow Brit on here 'wee kelpie' summed it up perfectly:

Haha, Pejoni, an Albanian laughing at Polish sport?

In fact, an Albanian laughing at anyone with regards to sport?

Yes, Spain killed us in the last match. It happens in football. Like it happens that for every Euro and World Cup qualifier, Albania finishes last or close to last. C'est la vis.

Poland sucks at every sport, you say? Maybe now we are in a bit of a dip, but we have our legacy, unlike some other countries in the Western Balkans who have truly never achieved anything in sports and one can say that they suck.

In football, we have come 3rd place twice in the World Cup (1974 and 1982). We have qualified for seven world cups in total. We won the gold at the Olympics in 1972 and silvers in 1976 and 1992.

How many medals have your glorious team brought home from the World Cup or the Olympic Games, huh, pejoni?

In fact, in the Olympic games, Poland has won a total of 275 medals (64 golds, 86 silvers and 125 bronze medals). By medal standings, we were ranked 9th in 1960, 7th in 1964 and 1972, 6th in 1976 and 10th in 1980. Not bad, hey?

How many Olympic medals has Albania won, huh, pejoni?

By the by, Polish handball and volleyball is quite strong. We came third in the Handball World Championships in Croatia. The last one we got a silver and in the past we got another bronze. Volleyball is strong too, our men and women have brought home a combined total of a gold, two silvers and two bronzes from the World Championships and a combined total of three golds, nine silvers and six bronzes from the European Championships (our women got one in the last one).

How many medals has Albania won in handball and volleyball, huh, pejoni?

Basketball, our history is also not bad, a silver and two bronzes at Eurobasket.

Even Ice Hockey, our weakest sport, we were ranked 6th in the world at one stage and brought home a silver in the European championships once.

I'll stop there, but hopefully you get the point.

BTW Has Albania achieved anything in sport, just out of curiosity, huh, pejoni?

Ian, UK

pre 13 godina

Unlucky for Serbia, I really thought they'd do better last night and have a great score so that they'd do better than Ghana on goal differences; thus qualify for the knock-out round.

England have made it through to the knock-out rounds but it doesn't mean much because we have Germany, so we have no chance to beat one our rivals, big pressure on our players. And even if we magically beat Germany we have to face Argentina after that, another one of our rivals. We face some impossible matches. England usually play bad under pressure. But I'll support them never-the-less.

I can say for the first time I agree with Mircea, it is a good thing that France when home. What a disgrace!

Also, what's up with the French team consisting of hardly any French players? What is this? Club football?

And thanks for sharing your opinion Kosovar, pity that Kosovo will never have the opportunity to play in a world cup (even if they could, if they are anything like Albania, they would never make it in anyway). ;)

There's something sad and deeply depressing about people like kosovar and mircea. Serbia qualify and provide entertainment by beating the likes of Germany and participating in a great world event. I'm upset that they went out, but at least they were there. And all those two can do is gatecrash a Serbian website to say they're glad Serbia lost. How spiteful and pathetic. Sourgrapes. What news have Albanians contributed to recently. Football, tennis, basketball, a music festival perhaps? No, a gunbattle on the Macedonian border. At least Serbia is trying to move forward. Serbia gave a shameful performance!
They could have played MUCH better!!
They dominated the first half of the game yet failed to capitalise on so many opportunities to score!

The 2 goals made by Australia in the second half, and in such a short period of time were really embarrassing.
Especially when you consider that we have some of the worlds best players!

When it comes to the crunch Serbia is an unreliable team!
They are a team of prima donnas!

This is the problem of this Serbian side Zigic is not on form and there are no obvious players to put away the goals. This evening we had a chance to see that the Serbian side has a good, entertaining side.

And had we beaten Australia I really think we would have gone on to the quater finals.

I believe that Antic should stay on as manager. The team is in safe hands under his stewardship, but in order to complete the package we need a striker to score.

Nice try Serbia, better luck next time.

Zoti

I do not question anyone's commitment but why were Serbia as a team so relaxed in the first half - a serious question that need to be addressed, I think.

this comment is really a shame!
it´s not only displaying a deeply rooted inferiority complex, it´s also quite cheapish.
(Jovan, 24 June 2010 15:37)

Jovan, I disagree. They have the team, they have the class... We will see them beat Brazil at home in four years.

Not much - but they got from Turkey the technology how to manufacture most environment-friendly cars.

With hindsight, I think Antic should have played Pantelic and Lazovic instead of Zigic and Ninkovic. They would have tormented the ageing and cumbersome Australian defence. I must admit, the prospect of Serbia beating the USA in front of former President Clinton would have been very interesting. How odd that the referee missed that handball and the "offside" goals, I must be a paranoid conspiracy theorist! Zivela Srbija, God bless and see you in the next Euro championship.

I don't think you should take it personally. This is like one of those scenes in those American movies in school, where there is always one nerdy kid that's always picked on. Well, Albania is the nerdy, picked on kid of the school of Europe. Nothing to take offense to, especially not Ataman, you have to admit, he is on a roll today/yesterday (I had some good laughs anyway).

Honestly I don't mind being picked on by Serbs as they have a reason to. Whereas you as a Polack tick me off as the Polacks are the butt of jokes in the U.S. but I guess sometimes it's easy for the abused to turn into the abuser.

Whatever, I laugh at Polish jokes as well, and anyway they are interchangeable with Irish jokes or with anyone else essentially.

You, sir, on the other hand, seem to take things too seriously. May I recommend you do something to curb that aggression, perhaps growing a moustache, putting on a puppet show or something to that extent.

Indeed in general albanians take everything too seriously and behave like a touchy kid.

Serbia lost because we have no world class striker. How many chances has Zigic missed in the 3 games he has played ???
We can complain about the penalty decision as much as we like but the Australia game should have been over by half time.
I am so disappointed yet again with Serbia, just think next game could have been USA, then a quarter final game against Uruguay or Korea !!!
What a chance Serbia have had to make it to the Semi-Final of the World Cup !!
Imagine how great the Serbian nation would have felt all over the world...
Instead we finish bottom of the group...yet again !
