I wouldn't mind our neighbours playing vuvuzelas

We actually want to buy some!
But here what I miss in Zagreb: the French coach. He is arguably the most handsome and best-smelling (French parfume!) from all coaches and players.

For the acknowledgement of his great team-building and professional skills as a coach: he should be sent to Zagreb, half-naked parading on the street blowing a vuvuzela (or whatever is appropriate on such parade, no idea).

Like in the old joke:

A dark-skinned man from Georgia (country) wearing a large towel is being seen in a Russian hotel.
People (mistaking him for someone else):

- "Джавахарлал Неру! Джавахарлал Неру!"
- "Во-первых не Неру а Нюру. Во-вторых, в первый раз слышу, что то, что я делал - по-русски называется 'джавахарлать' "

It's really impossible to translate... Like if I would continue my previous rambling about French coach:

"wow, first time I hear, THAT is called 'vuvuzela' in Croatian!"

In Albania there are no skinheads or viking loving hooligans, yet a gay pride parade here would end up like san bartolomeu night, people are conservative, either leftists or rightists. I wouldn't mind our neighbours playing vuvuzelas, yet i m worried that such things happening in croatia today might happen in albania tomorrow, so i m glad the parade was crushed. God forbid we end up like greece ! Anyhow, i wonder how come josipovic was so enthusiastic about the parade.

I wonder how come most of my comment go unpublished here though.

What have we become as a nation? In 50 years we've had to endure Tito's painful YU, Udba assisnations, Serbia's war of aggression, contemp of the Hague tribunal, E.U puppetry, Current left wing former commo politicians who only want a return to a 3rd Yugoslavia and now a gay parade that has less then 1% of the people's support. Why can't these people hold the parade in Kumrovec in Tito's selo. I can guarentee you that the authorities would never allow it. We are being forced to accept something we don't want. It's like saying you must support either the Ustase or Cetniks. You can't brainwash people anymore this is not Tito's YU. We must wake up from the Balkan peasant menatality that we still clung on too before we all lose our way!

"At times I think the gay community want this parade even if the time isn't right. They know they will provoke a majority of the population but still they insist. "

No, it provokes only a minority of silly skinheads or other extremists, or religious fanatics, or whatever. The majority couldn't care less for those parades. Live and let live!

At times I think the gay community want this parade even if the time isn't right. They know they will provoke a majority of the population but still they insist. I think its because they want symphaty in case they are attacked and thereby they hope to acheive greater rights sooner. They can't accept the fact that in many countries this is not the norm. Personaly I think people can be as gay as they want but don't flash yourselves and your bodies infrom of everyone. This is what irritates me with gays and this is what is preventing them from being accepted into society.

i had no idea of how bad things got, and that is a sorry story indeed. the hate mongers were out in force, promoted (at least in their minds) by the church and far right politicians. their hate has no place in a democracy, they need to keep the hate and homophobia in the closet, if they can't control their own evil and intolerant impulses.

if you don't care for these parades, i suggest you stick cotton in yr ears for their duration, turn off the tv, put on blinders, barricade yr home, whatever it takes. leave town. leave the country. the world, minorities, do not have to play hostage to yr homophobia and prejudices.

here is the deal about the violence: if you allow (facilitate) the rallies by the hate groups, then you HAVE to be able to protect all parade participants and anyone else, incl the cops. it sounded funny that there were hundreds of cops for a few hundred marchers -- but perhaps we needed thousands. otherwise you are not protecting.

or you just BAN the hate rallies.

governments in democracies must protect their people, and esp.ly their minorites. it is a hard lesson to learn, but it needs to be. we all need to learn TOLERANCE.

The Pride Parade was endorsed sure by a few but the overwhelming majority of the Croatians citizens are against it. Having it shoved on the citizens the lewd spectacle on the public streets. I do not agree also with mentally warped skin heads and their nonsenses.
