"But Albanians here keep claiming that that first of all they embrace Albanism, whatever that is, and then they are secular Muslims."

Milan,

There is alot of truth to that. There have been recent reports that villages in Kosovo have been wholly converting to catholicism, though how much of it is actually true and whether it consititutes a trend is another question.

Conversion to catholicism and back is not new either. From BIRN:

"Most Albanians converted to Catholicism and the Albanian hero, Skanderbeg, was one of the great heroes of 15th century Europe for his staunch defence of Christian Albania from the invading Turks.

But after the Ottoman Turks conquered the Balkans, Albanians steadily shifted their religious orientation towards the new dominant faith, and a large proportion of the country converted to Islam....Large swathes of poorer, more mountainous territory in the north of Albania proper, where the reach of the Ottoman authorities was weaker, remained Catholic. Overall, Catholics remain far more numerous in Albania than in Kosovo."

There are quite a few Malësori (catholic albanians) in Tuzi (Mn) and those accused of terrorism back in 2007 were catholics, so again, 'albanianism' is always first.

They remind me of the seagulls at the end of 'Nemo' squaking "mine, mine, mine, mine" ad nauseam.

As to why some albanian commenters want kosovo to join albania, you have to question their sanity as Albania is an even bigger dysfunctional pit that Kosovo where the politicians are like ferrets fighting each other in a bag:

Too bad this KOSOVA USA guy never contributes anything toward constructive discussion here or any other site. Obviously he is got lot of time on his hands, but by now never said anything with any substance or sense. More or less, his remarks are predictable.

"I agree with Kosova-USA. Much better to take billions from the Saudi Arabians and their gulf brothers which both Bosnia and Albania have done and continue to do. The Saudis will even throw in some free imams and clerics to help spread the word of wahhabism. What a bright future!

Aleks,

But Albanians here keep claiming that that first of all they embrace Albanism, whatever that is, and then they are secular Muslims. Of course when they need or get a recognition from a Muslim country they will embrace the Muslim role first. It is all their own business. The problem is that their sugar daddies from the Gulf Region want to get something out of all their generous "donations". What that will be I do not know and once the Albanians (and Bosnians) wake up they may find themselves in something that resembles a pretty bad nightmare. Unfortunately it will also be a nightmare for Christians in Bosnia and Kosovo (like during the 90's and now in especially Kosovo) and for Europe for they have to deal with the problems that the US will be partly responsible for by basically selling out Europe for their own benefits.
