Considering that you lead over UN...
(Simpatiku, 15 June 2010 10:19)
=====================

Not necessary to lead there, just be a member.
Just think of how many organisations you can never be a member of unless you are a member of UN. You can't even enter in Eurovision contest. You will forever remain an insignificant piece of land on this planet.
Besides, Serbian doesn't have to lead in the UN. That's what Russia is there for.

Bravo, good on you for promoting free speech.
When can we see this little speech in "New Kosova Report" too?
Keeping in mind that any Serb trying to post there is quickly run off.

Do I sense a case of "if you dont agree with me you can go to hell"? Hardly pragmatic, certainly not productive and definately not a surprise.
When will you learn, you have to be prepared to negotiate and to apply diplomacy if you are going to get anywhere near what you want. Belgrade has, for many years now, offered a negotiation table only to have it turned down in favour of an illegal land grab. Face up to the fact that these situations need to be negotiated. Take a leaf out of Serbia's book and start taking a more realistic approach to finding a common ground. Only that way will anyone find a lasting solution. If Serbia can propose negotiations, given that she had the land stolen from her, then I feel sure that all other parties should be able to swallow their blind nationalism and bigger alterior motives and make the steps towards the negotiating table.

thanks, ximi, what an excellent and spot-on response. hope to hear more from you.

there are plenty of problems and challenges for kosova -- some involve post-war trauma, some are simply frm traditional, internal corruption. some are typically post-communist, others part of the current global economic malaise.

and some of these burdens are directly a result of that "nice" neighbor to the north.

in other words, a complex set of issues, requiring a multitude of responses and i don't believe any of us here have all the (not easy) answers.

interestingly, when i speak with my Kosovar albanian frnds and acquaintances, their harshest criticism is nearly always reserved for domestic politicians, domestic corruption, etc. not surprisingly, since that is their day to day reality.

and as flora brovina -- who i admire greatly -- confided to us recently: "we don't need the intl community to tell us we have problems w/ corruption." that's about as frank as it gets.

now what the intl community visa vis eulex is doing about all of this, that is quite another question. and in my opinion, they are doing a rather piss-poor job, thank you very much.

and yes it is clear that corruption is rife throughout the former YU, the status of minorities often poor, human rights standards greatly wanting. but that doesn't excuse things in Kosova.

i am so pleased that many of our kosovar albanian colleagues feel free to contribute here, even letting down their defenses, baring a multiplicity of viewpoints. that's surely a positive sign, especially on this treacherous terrain.

i hope that our kosovar colleagues and dissidents of all ethnicities and colors continue to post here, and never allow themselves to be intimidated or silenced. viva democracia!

thank you.

This is just not logical Jim.

Doris Pack (De), EP Special Rapporteur says that Kosovo is such a wonderful place. so who is lying, the European Parliament or the Council of Europe? I'll give you a clue, the EP is full of MEPs who have far too many dinners for their own good.

Of course it is a negative report, how could it be anything else if Kosovo is led by criminals and racist elements of Albanian society.
This society will never be healed unless they start changing the education system which is full of historical inaccuracies and ethnic expansionist policies. Only then we might have some chance of peace for longer time.

Yet a the same time, NATO claims that the situation on the ground has improved substantially. I wonder from which perspective they formulated this opinion? Obviously thus must mean that Serbs are being forced out, harrased, intimidated, and live a ghetto existance..job well done boys! Now if they could only push the rest out of Kosovo, NATO could finally claim success!

The motto "standards not status" is turned around:

Instead of improving standards for the ordinary people, lobbying for new recognitions seem to be much more important for the politicians in the independent dream state of Kosovo.

EU and UN for the past 11 years only helped k-albs get hundreds of years behind any normal standards thanks to the greed of globalization. They protected k-alb clans who only knew the ways of lying and stealing.
And now they have problem with the same thing they helped.
Glad to see eurocrats have no problem making money on someone elses misfortune.
