Where do they get this information from?
The New York Times quotes one Israeli official …… potential damage to China's economy if Israel carried out an air attack on Iran. However, the Israeli official added the Chinese "really sat up in their chairs" when the Israelis described how such an air strike would disrupt oil supplies to China.
Who wrote this rubbish? China has other source of oil not just Iran and Israel would have attacked a long time ago if it could. Here is my challenge – attack Iran now or just shut up and stop behaving like a school bully with a bigger brother standing behind them. Grow up and live in the real world.
Let’s face it both China and Russia will not kill the goose that lays the golden egg to keep Israel or the US happy. What? Regime change in Iran to one that is friendly to the US – I don’t think so. The so called sanctions are not worth the paper they are written on – very much like the Srebrenica declaration passed by the Serbian parliament. Business as usual.

The sanctions are so diluted that their only purpose is to allow the West to claim a PR coup. Even the Americans themselves have realized what a charade and fiasco this entire episode is! See for example, http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/iran-nuclear-un-sanctions/2010/06/09/id/361565

The claims by the New York Times that China decided to back the sanctions regime because of israeli threats are just laughable and should
not be given any prominence at all.China will do what is best for China and sod the rest.

Prominence must be given to the fact that the UN/Security council has been acting as a puppet for the US/Israeli lobby and totally ignoring the wishes of the majority of its members.
Whilst 12 nations voted in favour of sanctions and won, 118 countries of the non aligned group of nations supported Iran's rights to enrichment within the NNPT.
This shows how democracy operates at the UN decision making process.

Will sanctions work?Well they didn't work with US sanctions on Cuba or UN sanctions on Saddam why they should be more succesfull now.

Sanctions always tend to hurt the poor and vulnerable and not those in power. In Iraq alone sanctions resulted in the death of 700000 children due to malnutrition.

The net result of santions on Iran will provide the mullahs in power with more ammunition against the West and consolidate their position .
