from an experienced observer (not Dan and Luigi) i would expect him to foresee smth "yugoslav" going on.

"We agreed that the European future of Serbia and Croatia should be guaranteed within the European Union, with a desire to offer mutual support in that direction," Sutanovac said.

It's an EU thing, an offshoot is perhaps they might make some military trading arangments to increase sales.

Nice observation though. Sheesh get those nostalga glasses off there impairing vision.

Belgrade and Zagreb now both have technocratic, internationalist governments, after the dark days of one country being run by drunken peasants, and the other by fascists in suits.

There is a 'Yugoslav spirit' to this announcement, and a number of other recent announcements. It is more than just posturing for the EU. People know that together these lands can rise again. Yes - there is also money to be made (e.g. from military exports) but that isn't always a bad thing!

Hopefully the absurdity of the region lagging behind Romania and Bulgaria (totally unthinkable 30 years ago) will soon be in the past.

You missed the "military industry" part, which at least in Serbia, is flourishing.
Nothing EU or NATO related.
In case you are still scratching your heads, soon military exports of Serbia will surpass those of ex-YU in the ol' good days...
