"Beta news agency reports that [Kermabon] thus “dismissed objections from the U.S. and some other Western governments that investigations into the alleged corruption of certain members of the Priština government were destabilizing Kosovo”.

-- Kind of puts "functioning state" in a whole new light.

Of course those investigations and prosecutions could potentially destabilze Kosovo. Imagine: If maybe 50% of the current government would be arrested and sued for corruption and other illegal things, who would lead the independent multiethnic dream state of Kosovo?

On the other hand: Should that be a criteria for EULEX not to fight corruption?

Kermabon's days are numbered. To actually publicly insinuate that the EU and US is trying to interfere with corruption investigations will have him out of a job soon.

The irony here of course is that corruption is endemic as offical propaganda site Balkan Insite has just posted and analysis of the problem in the region:

If the EU lays off Kosovo for corruption, then how can it ever join the EU without repeating the same mistakes as before (i.e. Bg & Ro)? Idiots.

Interesting that the 22 european governments and the US who did recognize Kosovo now want to hide the truth about corruption, destruction of Serbias cultural heritage, freedom of movement etc just to keep Kosovo "stable". Make the albanians happy or they will cause trouble. The entire albanian population behaves like a maffia.

Corrpution shouldn't be tolerated so the government can remain stabile. Shame on all governments, my own included, if they want to tolerate corruption.

Well said Kermabon.Justice, wherever it is upheld, should be free from interference or influence from any outside forces. I think it is incredibly arrogant for the US and others to be suggesting, in order to stabalize the puppet regime that they imposed, that somehow there should be no investigation of alleged corruption. Imagine any politician in the US or here in the UK publicly suggesting that any allegations of wrongdoing by members of the government be left untouched in case it upsets the government? There would rightly be public outrage and calls for justice to be seeen to be done. Why should it be any different in Kosovo?
