I do like the idea but not especially these candidates. as for paddy ashdown, he was still "high commissioner" when i first traveled to sarajevo in 2002. at that time it was still pretty clear that the area was crawling with war criminals -- for ex. mr karadzic. (we weren't so sure about mladic.) and i asked a frnd, "why doesn't ole Paddy have him arrested??" their reply came: That's not HIS job!

so whose job was it, santa claus's? UDBA's?

i mean he did get rid of SOME of the most obviously corrupt bosnian politicians, but otherwise i had the sense he was acting something like a british viceroy.

i just think the EU might find someone better suited than these 2 gentlemen.

thank you.

Take your pick from the bored serbo-phobes. Ashdown would be a dumb move considering his form, i.e. his aggressive and one sided bully boy tactics in Bosnia that ultimately got him fired. Not to mention that he is a fully paid up member of the Alija Izetbegovic fan club.

If you want to sort out Bosnia, get rid of the old bosnian warniks Siljagic, Ganic and Cengic. Even the croats and the serbs have moved on!
