In plain English: We will continue to chat with nice old ladies.

Maybe parallel structure refers to mafia?

North Kosovo is the neoliberal dream. No government either from Serbia or Kosovo.

Res. 1244 is still in force, which means Kosovo is under UN Administration, and so those elections are considered illegal. But it would be only consequent to call every election organized by Pristina authorities after the UDI illegal, too.

Northern Kosovo for anyone in Pristina is the equivalent of a striptease dancer - you can look, you can fantasize, but if you try to touch, you're thrown out of the nightclub.
(Mike, 24 May 2010 17:32)
Interesting analogy except for the fact that with the strippers their loyalty goes with the one with the most money, without moral principles.

"Sooner or later the Kosovan Government will take full control of the Kosovo - Serbia border, next step will be the courthouses, and after that elections." (RKS)

-- Have any evidence to prove this flight of fancy, or are you just trying to hold a stiff upper lip to cover Pristina's socio-political ineptitude? Stoicism in the absence of abililiy doesn't get you anywhere.

Sooner or later, and for all the Serb deniers from the Serb Camp...remember when you said KP officers would never answer to Pristina?

You think that Albanians will bother when Serbs clearly violate UN Res. 1244? Just go ahead...
(Adams, 23 May 2010 17:01)

Sorry Adams - but existing of illegal pseudoindependent authorities in Kosovo is biggest violating of 1244. So - if UNMIK doing nothing against these illegal authorities and their illegal pseudoelections - Serbs will organized elections under Republic of Serbia law (according 1244 Kosovo is part of Serbia - so serbian law is still valid on the territory of province).

It's a bit difficult to call the elections up north "illegal" when Pristina cannot and has no interest in organizing its own elections up there.

It's a complete stretch of common sense to call said political structures up north "parallel" when Pristina has ZERO authority and ZERO legitimacy there.

This is largely for show. EULEX can choose to recognize or not. The reality is that they will work with what the K-Serbs vote for.

as simple as this, these election are ilegall so why confusing ordinary citizens with these ilegall elections when they can participate in legall one and rule they own teritory by them self not by the mafia leaders such as ivanovic, bogdanovic etc. they get rich, you vote and the end they are ilegall leaders of your lawless north mitrovica.

Gee I wonder why EULEX / EU won't recognize a country that it's breaking "international law" (1244) and the Constitution of Kosovo for it's own motives and gains.

This action really solidifies Serbia's quest to "protect international law" while breaking it simultaneously.

funny, so called western nations failing to recognize the most basic democratic right....the right vote in a democratic election for fair representation.

What does it matter if EULEX recognizes or not...Serbia recognizes it's own citizens to hold local elections as parallel institutions are the "reality" on the ground.

"EULEX spokesperson Kristina Herodes said that the EU mission does not recognize the so-called parallel structures and that this is why the elections will not be recognized.
She said that EULEX will, however, continue to cooperation with the leaders of the community." Is that kind of like John Kerry's "I was for it until I was against it"? We don't recognize you, but we will work with you - the Eurocrats are something else. It only proves to me that the status situation will be frozen for many, mant years to come.

It doesn't bother me what kind of elections the Serbian minority takes place. The most important thing is the Kosovo/a government shows clearly its authority in the whole territory of Kosovo/a, control Kosovo/a borders, make sure Kosovo/a's residents travelling from and to Kosovo/a have got Kosovo/a documents and Kosovo/a's residents pay taxes to Kosovo/a's state.

EULEX spokesperson Kristina Herodes said that the EU mission does not recognize the so-called parallel structures and that this is why the elections will not be recognized.

She said that EULEX will, however, continue to cooperation with the leaders of the community.

UNMIK spokesperson Russel Geekie told the Tanjug news agency that the UN mission learned about the elections from the media but that UNMIK has not been officially informed.

I wonder what all those lovers of 1244 will have to say now!?

Eulex won't recognize but will CONTINUE to cooperate just like before. Finally I think I know what they mean by the term "tongue twister"!

Read in between the lines: nothing has changed, and Eulex doesn't have a choice.
