Minister protests inclusion of Kosovo in GEF

Deputy Ecology and Spatial Planning Minister Aleksandar Vesić will be attending the fourth assembly of the Fund in Uruguay on May 24, at which the adoption of a document welcoming Kosovo into the GEFis expected to take place.

One of the founders of the Global Ecological Fund is the World Bank, which has already given Kosovo full membership.

Are we assuming that;this Minister will skip the meeting, or is he planing to walk out!?

The government of Serbia is fighting a war that they lost 11 years ago. I wonder when will they understand that they are spending all this effort and millions of dollars for something that is ureachable.

What is the Serbian government trying to achieve by trying to block Kosovo/a development and prospects? Addressing to Serbian panel here do you really guys that these infantile tactics is helping Serbia to re-instate the sovereignity over Kosovo/a?

Funny comment. Really a pity that Disneyland didn't recognize Kosovo so far! Some people would have a very nice holiday resort then :-)

So are you suggesting that Serbia just give up? They are defending more than just the sovereignty of their land. They are also fighting for a strong and legal principle along with the right to expect international law to be upheld. If they give up on this then it sets a very dangerous president, one that would have consequenses far beyond the legal borders of Serbia. I feel that many countries in the world would do well to support Serbia in her peaceful battle against those who would ignore the law for their own alterior motives. The very best of luck to Serbia is my wish and I hope she continues to defend this principle.

The simple fact is that nobody declared independance in Northern Ireland. All concerned realised that a bunch of murdering terrorists would not resolve the dispute, so do you know what happened? The two sides of the dispute sat down and discussed the problem and brokered a peaceful solution that did not require anyone from an outside country to declare Northern Ireland independant. I seem to remember the US got involved in that dispute too and ended up being directly responsible for the deaths of many innocent civilians. NORAID was the vehicle for their support that time. Now we have members of SinnFein as members of a democratically elected Parliament. Amazing what peaceful discussions can achieve when both sides are willing to negotiate isnt it?

Kosova - tell me why Your hero - mr Thaci, don't recognized Somaliland, Abkhazia, Ossetia or Karabakh?? These territories have more rights (historical and political) for existing as independent states than Kosovo.

Just because two sides sit down and negotiate or renegotiate a particular dispute does not mean that either side or both sides will be happy with the outcome. In fact, the side that came out short the first time may come out even shorter the second time. It might be wise to leave well enough alone.
