“Serbia won’t end up like Greece"!!!
What a stupid statement! Greek's GDP is hundreds time higher than the Serbs have it.
No way to compare Greeks with Serbs, on the good tomes or in the bad times.

I would expect more seriousness in finance minister's comments. Greece is still a developed modern country, with a real GDP five times bigger than Serbia's. Even after the recent wage cuts - in order to get the 110 bn package - , the average Greek salary is still three times larger than Serbia's. And the Greek inftastructure is that of a developed country. So, such comparisons is pure political propaganda. According to him I suspect, every single country that has a higher debt (Spain, Italy and USA included) won't "end up" like Serbia no matter if it is 20 and 30 years in front of Serbia...

Of course Serbia won't "end up" like Greece. Serbia already "ended up" much, much lower, and worse. We should be so lucky to be in Greek shoes.

At least the successive Greek governments INVESTED their foreign debt (I would say: loot) in infrastructure and domestic projects of national importance. To look at Greece now and compare it with Greece from, say, 1973 is an eye-opener. Greece today is a modern, urban, technologically savvy, forward-looking nation. The foreign money was clearly used for good and constructive purposes, at least in part.

What did Serbian government(s) invest in? Crony capitalism? Cyprus offshore banking? Massive embezzlement? Horrendous social stratification? Bribes and kickbacks?

Right, because Serbia can prevent and solve the world economic crisis and is immunned to such cases!
