Wow, people. Is it The Jews fault being dispersed all over the world? There are more Jews out than in Israel. I guess the short sighted view does make them guilty but once you look at their history one realizes the pressures and injustices done to them simply for what they are.

People do understand most of these are Roma and Serbian minority, nothing to gain in Serbia where 700.000 go hungry every day, better try EU. I dont consider this pathetic as some Serb members here like to call it, its mostly sad.

You do understand that this article is directed to the Serbo-albanians in Kosovo, right?

The Serbs are doing just fine.

And this banana republic wants to join EU? It is completely useless economically and is of no benefit to the EU, unless the EU takes a liking to "asylum seekers", human, gun and narcotics trafficking and immigration of thousands of Albanians from their 5th world hole.

What a horrific abortion.

"People do understand most of these are Roma and Serbian minority..." (Pejoni, 5 May 2010 18:35)

So much about the multi-ethnic Kosovo and the minorities being "protected best" there. Strange to read such a sentence from Pejoni.

With these big numbers of people seeking asylum, maybe it's easier to understand the true reasons why many western countries recognized Kosovo: No, it's not the love for Kosovo Albanians, and no, it's not the hate for Serbs. It was simply done for having the possibility to send all these people back to their own country, Kosovo. This was not possible before. And yes, a big part of these people only claimed to be from Kosovo, to better get the asylum request granted. Kosovo was (and in a way, still is) a mess, and Serbia is a stable, democratic and multi-ethnic country, so the acceptance rate is near 0% for asylum seekers coming from Serbia.

The why are your Albos seeking to leave paradise on earth with Serb passports then? At least Serbia says that it has over 700 000 living below the poverty line, but when was the last time your Kosovo government admitted that it had 80% unemployment – Perhaps the press release was lost on its way to the free media eh?

It is so shame, all these Serbian commentators on this article, left their country long time ago.Aren't you or your parents asylum seekers too?! Thank you!

What I wonder is why people from Kosovo-UNMIK should seek "asylum". Doesn't asylum mean protection from persecution to the point of one's life being in danger? I can see asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Somalia, and even Russia. But Kosovo, "Europe's youngest democracy" with such overwhelming international support?

Who's being persecuted?

It would be interesting to know how many from each ethnic group in Kosovo were represented by this figure. If anyone can provide that info it would be appreciated. In addition, I wonder how many K Albanians opted for a claim to enter Serbia?

I am surprised there were not more asylum seekers from Kosovo, would anyone here like to live there? EU membership for this dark, corrupt pit will never come. Eventually, the Albanian population in Kosovo will become a minority, and the serbs will just walk back in.

John

Since there is an international presence in Kosovo I would say its easier to be granted asylum saying you are from Albania.
I actually heard that people from Somalia and Afganistan say they are from Albania to get easier access to the wellfare system in Europe. More albanians live outside their own country then within its own borders.

Who can blame them. Look at this video about the abduction of children in Albania. Children who are sold as sexslaves.

It's better to understand those numbers when you consider the population of a country. From that point of view, Kosovo is the world leader - 0.71% of population of 2,000,000 people is looking for better life in Europe. Even Somalia is behind - 0.19% (10,000,000), then Afghanistan - 0.068% (30,000,000), Iraq - 0.06% (30,000,000), and Russia - 0.013%. As I always say, numbers tell you all.

Ha ha ha! Albanians continue to flee their prosperous and democratic "state". How truly pathetic! I guess its time to move to another country, have droves of children, make up a story of some ancient civilization (to claim the right to the land) and proclaim independence.
