Sarajevo tense on massacre anniversary

This is how the war in Bosnia began and with the Izetbegovic decleration of a Bosnian islamist state. Muslim aggression, Serb resistance and fight for freedom. The gathering by the muslims is a provocation and dissrespect to the victims and their families.

Unfortunately Bosnia is doomed as a functinal country when one side can't admit that they also did some wrongs.

At least Serbia recognizes their own misstakes, how many years will it be before the muslims in Bosnia does the same?

"On May 3, 1992, a retreating Yugoslav Army (JNA) convoy was attacked by Muslim forces in this Sarajevo street, resulting in death and injury of scores of soldiers" - the JNA soldiers were retreating and defenseless, as in were not fighting. They were supposed to have safe passage out of Sarajevo, but attacked and murdered by the Bosniaks. This says a lot about the morality of Bosnian muslims, yet they cry bloody murder for their own. I say, RS should separate from these people.

AF, are you suggesting that a massacre committed by the Bosniaks on retreating defenseless soldiers simply be overlooked? One crime does not justify another, or is that part of the eye for an eye preaching of the koran? In any case, both sides will be blind then.

First the muslims bosnian and albanian fought and LOST in WWI, then you fought and LOST with the nazi's in WWII, then you lost in the 90's with NATO and USA the two largest military forces ever in history and republika srpska won.
And about that war what dont you understand, Serbs lived under islam for 500 years, we were slaves...do you know what that means. Why dont you and every other muslim give back our 500 years of slavery and opperssion, rape and murder that muslims are guilty of over the Serbs. Give them back and then we can talk, let us Serbs enslave you for 500 years and then we will be even?
Serbs were never gona live under islam again, and when bosnia ILLEGALLY decalred independence from YUGOSLAVIA, it was the militaries right to restore order and protect its soverigenty. muslims started the war the whole world knows that and you dont see it now but Serbs won - like they always have over Islam.

They should. Now, excepting this reality is another story entirely. They want to feel distinct, start fresh as one would say.

Yet, it needs to be understood that most Muslims in Bosnia realize their ancestors were Serb christians, and are against any agression towards them. Most of this jibberish about hate, retaliation and violence is all propagando to setup a precedent for all of us Ex-Yugos.

I just hope we all see this clearly and not fall in the same trap.

The Bosnian war will always be known for the Serbian aggression on innocent bosnians.

You are correct. Genetic studies have shown Bosnian Muslims to be closest to Serbians and not Croatians. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbs#Genetics

Yeah, like one side calling the genocidal slaughter of approx. 8,000 prisoners a "crime" while they call an attack on a retreating hostile force a "massacre". Spot the contradiction? No? Not surprised.

yes, NYC, and so much more. i wasn't going to even bother commenting here, but since you have i will join in. the attack on bosnia, esp in the east, had been going on for the past month, by which i mean the daily atrocities, rapes, etc. even svetlana broz, who purposely went into bosnia during the war to try to help and then to record testimony, said going to e. bosnia then was un-thinkable.

i still say that i would never gloat or find happiness from killings, esp of young people. but evrery drop of their blood is on the hands of milosevic and his many thousands of willing executioners, who'd been planning this "fun" for years. (all well documented, thank you!)

and as far as the "Muslim" side goes, it was always multi-ethnic, but the other side always lied and claimed THe rebels were the serbian side, and the loyalists muslim/ croatian side. many serbs and croats stayed loyal to bosnia, and i've met numerous such individuals, so maybe certain people and media outlets need to check out their facts just a tad bit better.

I do not agree that Serbs kidnapped Alija Izetbegovic. he voluntarily came in their hands, even though he was warned from Bosnian defenders not to do so. In fact, he became a volunteer hostage in order to save the greater Serbia project, which was about to collapse. The defeat of surrounded Serbs in Sarajevo would be devastating for fighting morale of JNA soldiers and Izetbegtovic saved them.

The killing of armed soldiers that were occupying Bosnia-Herzegovina's capital is not a massacre. In a war soldiers die that's simply how it is. In Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries foreign occupiers are killed every day and we don't hear any "commemorations" of "massacres". The occupying Serbian troops were casualties of war nothing more and nothing less.
