I am really sad. I am hungarian. I grew up, that everybody talked about the great Hungary...
I am older now. I donot care, how big or little is my country. I need only to know, that nobody hurts anybody because of his/her nationality. - Borders? I donot care. If in my country the japanese language would be the official - that is o.k., too, if I can speak my language without any punishment...
I donot understand, why the war in the 90-s was. - But it goes on still I think, as I read these comments... This is a very stupid thing.

Lenard - you've made my day again... given you specifically replied, I will accept you are human - my apologies.

Croatians ernestly defending their "glorious history" when no one else deems it even worth a mention is truly a pitiful sight.

I guess we've moved on now, but if you are still out there on this topic, question for you, if Croatia considers it's (highly debatable) history during the 10th century a good enough reason to kill and destroy Serbs in the 20th century to reoccupy "Croat lands", then why do you not consider Serbia's claims to Kosovo legitimate?? No one, even Albanians, doubt that Kosovo was Serbia in the 14th century ... why is our (solid) history to be trashed and we must accept the current reality of Albanian majority means independence?

I'll tell you why, it's called hypocracy.

Anyway, catch you on another thread.

My regards to Kim Jong-il

Ha, ha, ha, you’re a real comedian. According to Croats you guys had an empire that not only rivaled the Romans but surpassed anything in Europe, ruling from the English Channel to the Bosporus.
Pity the history books have blank pages when it comes to Croatia.
However, it gets better, Franjo Tudjman claimed that Marco Polo was a Croat. It seems to me that Croatian greatness is only found in that special Croatian library where you can also find books on Atlantis being a Croatian colony.
Truly you guys are a legend in your own minds.

Lenard, sounds like you only remeber certain historical moments in Balkan history. Croats never ever laid a finger on a Serb? WWII, Jasenovac, Operation Storm, (the list goes on) never
existed?

Sad, but this is why the Balkans is one the most inhumane regions in the world. You should always look in the mirror and know your full history and not the parts you prefer to "remeber" or "know"!

Don't even bring up the question of ethnic cleansing! Croatians are one of the masters in that field.

Lenard - let me be the devils' advocate and show you this map of Hungary:

http://www.eurominority.eu/documents/cartes/carte-hongrie.jpg

There are some misspellings here and there like "Zágráb", "Pozsega", "Valkóvár", "Eszék"... ;-)

Don't get me wrong, but... I am not 100% sure Árpáds were defeated.

I know, the Turul over Tatabánya has to have two heads and become Serbian Eagle and the "Zero" milestone in Budapest should be painted in chess motive ("sahovnica"). I think, now Joe will kill me for that - but given that the entire Hungarian government and the entire Hungarian opposition is either mentally challenged or crooks (or both) - that would be a positive development in the country NOW. What was 200, 500 or 1000 years ago is a different thing.

But truth is the truth: the entire Croatian and Slovenian and Hungarian and Serbian nobility was completely intermixed. And as for villagers or citizens: genetically there is no way you can tell a Slovene, Slovak, Hungarian, Serb, Croatian apart. Except if you look at religion. That is not enough to differentiate between Croats and Serbs. Germans have much bigger difference.

This entire topic is a tragedy or a comedy, depending how you look at it.

Commentator - Let me analyze your dribble no nothing sequenchel about it. The Serbs came to Croatia when your lands were occupied for centuries and were persecuted by the Bulgarian Empire ,Mongolian ,Empire Ottoman Empire etc. Being nice as usual the Croatian Kingdom let you have refuge in Croatia and a home to live among us. What a big mistake the Serbs are by their nature belligerent. Just look at the 1990s Serb were the minority and waged wars against the majoritys in the other republics Croatia ,Slovenia ,Bosnia ,Kosovo. It would of continued on to other Republics where Serb are also minority. Until the world got tired fed up of the Serb and Serbias nonsenses and read the riot act to the Serbs. As usual stubborn Serbs thought it was a joke they thought they could continue with slater of civilians ,ethnic cleanse their unarmed neighbours and steal their land homes destroy etc with impunity. Until they got rubber hose treatment by the worlds police now they bemoan how it is unfair for the Serbs lol. Serb thinking is were a Serb lives is Serbias land or might have lived grow up Serbs. You have a knack of making your neighbours your enemies time to look at yourselves in the mirror. As a matter of fact, Croatia is 20 years old and is one of the youngest countries of the world. Another Canadian Serb, 30 April 2010 14:14. As usual a lot of Serb ignorances. Duke Tomislav of Littoral Croatia was one of the most prominent members of the House of Trpimirović. He united the Croats of Dalmatia and Pannonia into a single Kingdom in 925. Traditionally it is stated that Tomislav's state extended from the Adriatic Sea to the Drava river, and from the Raša river to the Drina river. Under his rule, Croatia became one of the most powerful kingdoms in Medieval Europe. Tomislav defeated the invasions of the Arpads in battle and forced them across the Drava. He also annexed a part of Pannonia. This included the area between the rivers Drava, Sava and Kupa, so his Duchy bordered with Bulgaria for a period of time. This was the first time that the two Croatian Realms were united, and all Croats were in one state. The union was later recognised by Byzantium, which gave the royal crown to Stjepan Držislav and papal crown to king Zvonimir. The medieval Croatian kingdom reached its peak during the reign of Kings Petar Krešimir IV (1058–1074) and Zvonimir (1075–1089).

The Kingdom of Croatia existed from its foundation in 925 until the end of World War I, initially as an independent kingdom and later as a crown in multi-ethnic empires.

Lenard,
How about Serbia draws the borders of 1914. As a matter of fact pick any year you want.

Croatia is a region and not a country. Croatia has always been part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, but speaks in the Serbian language. Confusing isn't it?

As a kid, i remember visiting Croatia and watching Croations drink "TURSKA KAFA".

Still confusing isn't it?

As a matter of fact, Croatia is 20 years old and is one of the youngest countries of the world.

Wasn't Croatia a country before? As i open up my history books, i cn see that Hitler created Croatia in 1939 and by 1945 it was stillborn.

Don't forget that all good things come to an end.

Lenard - the more I read your comments, the more I am convinced you are actually a North Korean "Juche" anti-globalization computer virus that has spun out of control.

The comments are so bizzare and the English so poor (feels computer generated) that it seems to be a fit.

On the other hand, if you are a human, my apologies, but tell me, if you are so hell bent on everyone being "independent" then why not let Krajina go? We didn't want to be part of Croatia. Who ever asked us??

What gives you the right to force me to decide what state I should be part of?

For us, Croatia is the "EU/Russian slave labour camp" big brother you are always banging on about.... the absolute hell the Croats inflicted on Krajina Serbs at various times in the last 100 years is mind blowing.

Let's decide in Croatia who wants to live where, village by village.

Croatian ones can be Croatia, Serb ones as they choose.

A big brother hater like you would be in favour of that surely ... or is this just a charade?

Don't you worry about Serbia. At least we fight our own wars. We don't go to the Germans and cry like the croats. Serbs have allowed enough territory to be given to the croats, thanks to Tito. But don't worry little Lenard. We have not forgotten what belongs to the Serbs. One day when chaos hits this continent of ours we will take back what is rightfully ours.

Lenard

Very simple the Serb leadership has all of its hopes and prospects in joining the EU. Return what Serbia stoled as the belligerent instigator of aggressions and of thievery then it might have some better prospect. Personally I think Serbia is barking up the wrong tree the EU. When loving mother Russia is waiting to give Serbia a great bear hug Russia will be pretty sad.
