Just wondering here.
Why did you Albanians feel the need to change the name Kosovo to Kosova?
Even your own passports say Kosovo so what is it with distortion of the name?

Do you really think that by chaning one letter you can claim the territory?

Seriously, why?

UNMIK who?
(Pejoni, 28 April 2010 15:43)

Pejoni doesn't know UNMIK? Strange, I got the impression that he must be from Kosovo. Obviously not. Maybe he's from another planet - or from the Kingdom of Swaziland?

Little hint: Google is your friend!
(Top, 28 April 2010 16:44)

I don't think there is a need for google. Come to Kosova/o and drive all day for a month, and if you can find one coca cola police vehilce with UNMIK plates, then I am the biggest idiot on this site.
Pejani is right and so am I.

Get as licence, pay local taxes in Kosova and Telecom Serbia may operate in Kosova as well!
(Simple Mind, 28 April 2010 14:10)

Simple Mind- "Kosova" is not a country or a territory. It is the name of a tribe in west Africa. Please correct your spelling to avoid confusion.

Who is the bigger market for Telenor, Kosovo via Pristina or Kosovo and the rest of Serbia via Belgrade???

This is Pristina punishing Norway for not handing over the monies directly to them.

Sh*tting on a major country that has recognized 'kosova' really smacks of political genius. I'm sure that other states that have also recognized 'Kosova' might be urgently seeking assurances from Pristina about current and future investments...

This is not a political nor a humanitarian issues as many claim. I will explain why...
Resolution 1244 is status neutral but it also says that Kosovo will be administered by UNMIK. UNMIK approved both Vala and Ipko mobile services and they never approved the serbian mobile providers. Therefore, the serbian telekom is illegally functioning in Kosovo. Therefore, even if you don't think that the serbian mobile providers are illegal because Kosovo institutions are saying so, they are illegal because UNMIK never approved/legalized them as the third mobile provider-telekom. Unfortunately, UNMIK never had the guts to intervene as the Kosovo institutions did by disabling the telecom towers.
It's not a humanitarian issues because people who are left without a telekom mobile service do have access to two other mobile services (i.e. ipko and vala) if they choose so. If they do not, then that's their choice. In addition, they do have access to landlines therefore they are not being left without any communications as the opposition might want you to believe.

For goodness sake Simple Mind stop repeating that argument ad nauseum.

You know full well that the Serbian reply is that Kosovo operators are the ones operating without a Serbian licence.

To a neutral your argument is no more or less valid than the Serbian one.

Stop pretending you don't know why we have a problem - it is because Kosovo status has not been negotiated directly by the people involved Serbs and Albanians.

In such negotiations these type of issues would be cleared up and actually I'm sure that there would be agreement for both Serb and Albanian companies to operate in Kosovo in competition. That would mean ordinary people would win.

At the moment, just like in every other aspect of life, you have your ethnic businesses and the Serbs have theirs. And a minority of rich 'businessmen' rub their hands, whilst we fight each other.

So I guess that leaves the question of is this situation being over dramatized to try and win some sort of international support by making it a humanitarian crisis??
Eventhough it is wide spread knowledge that everyone affected can have phone coverage, they just do not choose to.
By the way the legal telecom carriers in Kosovo today are the same ones established under UNMIK.
UNMIK did the same thing in 2007 by diabling towers so I do not think there will be any intervention by UNMIK.

Why would Serbia need a license to operate phone service on its own land, SimpleMind? UNSC Resolution 1244, which is the law of the land in Kosovo, is status neutral. That means that Pristina authorities have no jurisdiction to request any kind of fees from anyone. Please be aware that Serbia never acknowledged an Albanian KiM, nor did the UNSC, if anything, Serbia should be requesting Pristina to obtain licenses for their "codeless" phone service.
