Not a form of pressure?

When Kosovo's Serbs are forced to use Albanian operators they will need to pay the much higher international connection price to reach their family in Serbia.

Danilo

pre 14 godina

"Kosovo is using the 038 phone country access code?"

No. Kosovo has no country code. 038 is the serbian area code for Pristina, as fixed-line numbers are still run by Telekom Srbija. Disabling it would be a huge mistake. It means Serbia would loose out on the income it makes terminating international calls to Kosovo and it would give Kosovo a good reason to apply for a country code even though it's not a member of the UN.

Cutting Kosovo out of the Serbian network would only hurt Serbia

pss

pre 14 godina

No, only the Albanians in Pristina are saying that. And by "illegal", they mean "not controlled by us". If it were really illegal, the mobile service would have been planned to have been phased out by EULEX long ago. It's about money not legality (as is most things in Kosovo). But simply deciding to cut the power (and I never really give these Albanians much credit in intelligence) is an open act of aggression and a clear sign Kosovo's leaders have absolutely no understanding of how to run a state. Another shining example of civic co-fraternity in "Europe's youngest democracy".

Seriously, is this the best the Albanian diaspora can argue these days?
(Mike, 26 April 2010 23:59)
UNMIK did the same thing in 2007, eventhough a good percentage of personnel were using these phones due to the cheap prices. However they went through and disabled the towers but did not stop them from rebuilding. I doubt you will find either UNMIK nor EULEX condeming these actions.

Mike,

it makes perfect sense. These companies did not no pay the licensing tax and usurped frequency bands. It is not only Pristina that has stated that these companies were operating illegally but also
EULEX, and UNMIK.

Like I mentioned, if these companies refuse to pay corporate taxes and get licensed properly, than there will be no phones.

Nice one Tadic. You allowed EULEX to deploy. You allowed Pristina to disconnect power to the Serbians. You are allowing Pristina to disconnect the mobile network. Unless you take action now, they will continue to cut Serbians completely off. What are you going to do Tadic?
(Zoran, 26 April 2010 21:55)
--------------------

You may not remember, but from the very beginning I called EULEX a Trojan Horse. I have been against Tadic even more since then.

Tadic has recognised Kosovo. Albanians are right. He can talk a good game but that's all it is. In the end he will say "I tried". Those ever suffering Serbs there are getting very desperate. Eventually they will be forced for accept "Kosova" institutions. When people feel abandoned and under constant pressure, how long before they snap? How much can they endure?
Tadic is so busy preserving Bosnia's territorial integrity that his own doesn't seem to matter any more. He knows that the west is lying to him. He knows what the deal is.
He knows, but many Serbs don't. I am amazed they cannot see what is really going on and keep putting up with this man.

I thought that would be the case. What would have Serbia done if a Kosovo/a operator would have exercised their activity in Belgrade let's say without the permission of Serbian authorities?

Serbia now is trying hard to make some political gains...No surprise here.

RE: State sponsored terrorism

Again, the current so called Kosovo government and its nstitutions continue to use KLA terrorism and the use of force to continue to infringe on the human rights of Serbians and Albanians in Kosovo.

It is an act of terrorism to maliciously destroy business property. Obviously, no negotiation or letters were exchanged with Serbia telecom over those facilities and other mobile operators. The cost is not only the facilities, but lost air time to Serbia Telecom and it's subscribors.

This is not only politisized by the KLA terrorist Thaci who is running the so called Kosovo government but against all business code of ethics and conduct in the civilized world.

The IMF and other financial institutions as well as all telecommunication providers in Kosovo should send a strong message to the Kosovo government that state sponsored terrorism will not be tolerated.

Kosovo is using the 038 phone country access code? I thought Kosovo "licensed" the access code from Monaco, paying an annual usage fee, because only regonized states are able to get a phone access prefix number from the ITU??
