Well, even Spain - AN EU MEMBER - does not recognize Kosovo. So why should Serbia?

Don't worry my friend, Serbia will join EU without recognizing Kosovo.

The EU will keep on governing EU. And as such Kosovo will join EU...

What a mess!

Greetings from inside the EU!

A Kosovo Albanian government officials says that Serbia’s “lawsuit against Kosovo's independence” before the ICJ had “slowed down the process of recognition”.

Skender Hyseni, appointed by the government in Priština as its foreign minister, was quoted as saying today that the ICJ case “provided an excuse for many countries that still haven’t recognized Kosovo to ask for more time to make a decision”.

Give that man a pint for stating the bleeding obvious.

It comes at price - whom EU wold like to see winning in next Serbian elections?
If Tadic cant' deliver results to his voters, the voters have other choices EU does not like that much.

EU still stuck in the "cold war" and can't see the forest because trees are blocking the view.

If that is indeed what is going on, I can only say, yippeee. I hope these countries save Serbia from herself.

"I can recall, you have claimed to be an American. America, a country where ~ 77% of the people voted to invade Iraq based on false pretense given to you by Bush. Bush, the single most gullible, yet stupid politician I have ever encountered in my life. A president that was voted TWICE by your fellow citizens, regardless of the truth. Now please tell me, who is the sheeple?" (Uran)

-- You are preaching to the choir my friend. Hysterical could easily get a job in Washington.

Instead of "lobbying" together with their "sponsors", what about if the Kosovo government would finally try to implement a multiethnic, democratic state with laws, fight against corruption and competent state bodies who know how to do their job? I think that was the "sponsor's" plan of what Kosovo should be like.

I'm sure, much more countries would be willing to recognize such a state of Kosovo, but not the current one with corruption, ethnic violence and discrimination.

Mike,

How hypocritical and generalized are your statements. As I can recall, you have claimed to be an American. America, a country where ~ 77% of the people voted to invade Iraq based on false pretense given to you by Bush. Bush, the single most gullible, yet stupid politician I have ever encountered in my life. A president that was voted TWICE by your fellow citizens, regardless of the truth. Now please tell me, who is the sheeple? Have you watched the news stations in the U.S. lately? Everything is polished and massaged so it doesn’t upset your little/beautiful brains. I may be generalizing, which is not fair, but you should refrain from generalizing also.
With this statement Hyeseni has accepted what we already know - Belgrade played better politics. There isn’t anything deeper, unless you want to irrationalize.

Cheers,

Patrik

"PRIŠTINA -- A Kosovo Albanian government officials says that Serbia’s “lawsuit against Kosovo's independence” before the ICJ had “slowed down the process of recognition”."

Isn't that kinda the idea, aside from an actual ruling? And why should more countries rush to recognition with the case pending? What is the benefit for them?

"Skender Hyseni [...] was quoted as saying today that the ICJ case “provided an excuse for many countries that still haven’t recognized Kosovo to ask for more time to make a decision”.

-- Oh Skender, Skender. An "excuse"? Enough countries have openly stated their "refusal". Be honest towards your sheeple.

"Hyseni expressed his optimism as to the outcome, and said he “absolutely” expected the recognitions to “accelerate” after the ICJ announced its decision."

-- I don't call you Hysterical for nothing.

"According to Hyseni, Priština was, “together with the major world powers and those countries which were leading the process of Kosovo independence“, intensively preparing to lobby for recognitions after the ICJ rules."

-- If it's anything like the half-baked attempts at lobbying in the first two years, you'll understand if I'm somewhat underwhelmed.
