Dodik and the Dayton Accords are the main problem preventing Bosnia from moving faster on its path to joining NATO and the EU. Bosnia needs fundamental constitutional change in order to become an effective state which meets EU standards of governance. Until a new democratic constitution in put into place Bosnia will continue to be unstable and will destabilize the entire region as well. The "Greater Serbian" state that Milosevic promised the Serbs as a reward for their genocide has turned out to be a lie and the Serbians are having a very hard time dealing with it. However with time and hard work the situation will be resolved and Bosnia will get a new democratic constitution that protects all of its citizens and results in long term stability which will allow the country to become a member of NATO and the EU.

Well said!

I suspect they just want to show that they are "influential" and "important" and can "make things happen".

Of course, nothing will happen. Turkey carries no real weight, but nice of them to try.

The main thing is actually for Haris to depart the political scene. If Turkey could encourage that - it would be useful. He is part of the original problem, not the solution and the Bosnian muslims need to turn a new page like has happened in Serbia and (maybe) is starting to happen in Croatia.

Let's hope for the best.

As long as there is a Republika Srspka which is trying to leave the Bosnian state then really, there will always be political deadlock. I'm afraid it isn't Haris Silajdzic, its Milorad Dodik.

What's Turkey's problem now?
