I do not want to mention our company in detail, but we are one of the most well-known in the area. I never became rich - that wasn't my objective. I wanted to work only on stuff I like 100% and don't be bothered. Well - I succeed. And we can take on much larger companies. Enuf said.

Hey Matthew - didn't know, we were practically neighbors: Cupertino here.

Apropos, Cupertino: this is true, Cupertino is mostly Chinese. But the majority on non-Asians there born outside of U.S. are from Russia.

Wish you, David, afford to buy or to rent a nice home in Cupertino.

These deluded individuals that just espouse repetitious nonsense that they have heard about freedom or democracy in their western media give me a headache. How democratic is the US considering that in its 220 years of democracy only Democrats and Republicans have held power, whether in the White House or Congress – and you call this democracy! When you learn about real democracy then come back and make comments not this diatribe of rubbish. The best you can say of US democracy is a term used in the early period of Bosnia – “guided democracy” or commonly know as controlled.

Perhaps you might read up on the so called anti terrorist legislation in the US and you just might learn these laws are harsher that those passed in the Soviet Union during JOSEPH STALIN’s time – you know where they arrest and hold you with legal counsel. Then you might describe what that bastion of human rights is all about that is commonly known as Guantanamo Bay.

Putin is a thaw for the west because he will not lie down and roll over and he is moving Russia towards industrialisation by allowing western companies to open up shop such as Nissan, Mitsubishi (which is closing a plant in Australia but opening up in Russia), Hyundai and it goes on and on. Here is some sad news for you but private enterprise will do business with anyone if there is a buck in it for them. Putin is no fool and putting oil revenues to good use unlike Saudi Arabia that is indebted to the US to such a level that its citizens will be paying it off long after the oil runs dry – this is what you democratic loving US would love to do to Russia.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky like his buddy George Soros attempted to undermine the very structure of Russian politics. First read up on Khodorkovsky; from poverty in the 1960s to billionaire in the 1990s – how was this done? What did this man invent or produce considering that communism controlled life up to its collapse? When people like Khodorkovsky and Soros talk about democracy they actually mean total control but masked as “democracy”.

I obviously don't mean every Russian. I know many who have moved to America and flourished throught hard work and their intellect. America is a country that allows all its citizens the opportunity to succeed without the fear of politicians and government. Unfortunately Russia does not and historically has no allowed their people the same chance.

Silicon Valley thrived due to entrepreneurship, which is something Russians do not posses.

Shalom, David

Reading your rambling I tried my best not to become a violent anti-semite. So far, I succeed - but narrowly. I have to congratulate: what you did is quite an achievement. One more essay like this and I am going to join either "Jobbik" or maybe some "88" nuts.

thank you for your always (un)insightful generalization of a whole population. very good of you sir, to apply a stigma to an entire race of people when you have probably never even set foot in russia and the only information you have to go on is from cnn or chuck norris films from the 80's... i will forever look to you, as i do chuck norris, as a defender of democracy and freedom around the world. :)

The people of that country have never known what freedom is and will never know what it is as long as Putin is running the show. Why would anyone strive to create or excel in Russia's "Silicon Valley" when their "democratically" (hehehe) elected government can throw you in jail and claim your ideas & business as their own (ala Mikhail Khodorkovsky). Russia should stick to pumping oil reserves for cash because everyone knows thats the only thing that puts bread on Mr. Putins table...
