I fail to see how Kosor rationalizes the Croatian war in Bosnia was "defensive" when

a) the Croatian army was operating in another country

b) plans were agreed between Tudjman and Milosevic to carve up Bosnia

c) Mostar. Enough said.

d) Old man Mesic practically boasts about Eastern Hercegovina being Croatia-lite.

Thumbs up for Josipovic.
Epic fail for Kosor.

“It says in the Declaration on the Homeland War that it was a liberation, just and defensive,” Kosor said.
--
Now that reminds me of something:

Does this sounds familiar?

"An evil exists that threatens every man, woman and child of this great nation. We must take steps to insure our domestic security and protect our homeland."

Which of the following made the above quote: George W. Bush, Homeland Security Czar Tom Ridge, or Franjo Tudjman?

The correct answer is none of the above. In 1922 Adolph Hitler, writing about the creation of the German Gestapo wrote it.

Yup, it's all because of Slobo that Croats also fought the muslims, and butchered away just like in WW2.

Tell me about Mostar. It's been what, 15 years since "Dayton" and the city is still divided along ethnic lines. Is this still due to Milosovic, the most powerful man in the world, even when he's dead.

You fought not because of Serbs but because you didn't want to live under the yoke of Islam. You were suckered into accepting Holbrooks plan called the Federation. Hook line and sinker.

Well now, as the cries for a third entity is growing in Bosnia, due in part to Croats wanting to separate from Muslims, I want to see Croats remain just where they are and deserve, as Allah Akbar dominates your lives. Fitting.

"never fought an aggressive, but a defensive war".

“It says in the Declaration on the Homeland War that it was a liberation, just and defensive,”

I do believe the Bosniaks of Mostar view the Croatian involvement just a tad differently. I’m still having trouble wrapping my brain around that one, how exactly did it defend against the Serbs by burning the place down? I’ve seen it with my own eyes after the war, it was very destroyed.

But if it says so in the Declaration on the Homeland War, then it must be true. I think this must be the same declaration that celebrates Operation Storm as an official holiday.

Kosor is right about one thing though, the world is completely in the dark about what really happened between Croats and Bosniaks during the war.

Bravo for Josipovic for trying to do what’s right.

For the record, yes, Kosor is correct that Bosnia and Croatia fought a defensive war against the greater Serbian aggression. So, technically, an apology of Croatia to Bosnia would not be appropriate.

Of course, wars are messy and there are always crimes that are committed by each side (it is very hard to prevent this). So, of course, Josipovic was apologizing for any crimes that may have been committed by Croats during this war. Bosnia, of course, should do the same.

So long as it is not misinterpreted that the republic of Croatia is apologizing to Bosnia for the war itself.

I like Josipovic, and I understand him wanting to apologize to create good relations. But unfortunately, this is politics, and someone from the Bosnian side can quote what he said and spin it in a way to criminalize the entity of Croatia.

Yes Croatia was so defending Bosna. That unlike Serbian forces:
* They did not sign an agreement in 1991 to leave bosna. Remember all Serbian JNA (renamed VJ) left by May 12, 1992.
* The HV, Croatian army, was in Bosna the entire time.
* Nevermind the HV thought along with HVO (Bosnian Croat army) the entire time.
* HV was "defending" Bosnia from Serbia by destroying the Mostar Bridge.

Anyways. Kosor is a foolish women. Bosnia lost its case against Serbia at the ICJ, the case exonerared Serbia of the accusation of "agression."

Bonsia had a far better claim against Serbia, then Croatia will.

And I wouldn't be surprised if Bosnia was to sue Croatia and win.

Nenad you are right. Josipovic is at least trying to move in the direction but Kosor is wed to the old propoganda of eternal victimhood. We all suffer from it of course, but this focus on 'our' victimhood neglects the suffering of others and it implies that we have the right to (over)react.

In its most brainless form the argument is 'they attacked us first and naturally there were those who took matters into their own hands.

Of course Kosor has always been of that nationalist ilk, courting the anti Serb vote, so you wouldn't expect her to change.

Josipovic on the other hand like Serbia's Tadic attempts to be rational and is not a chauvanist.

My first thought is that it's really hard to believe that the Muslims, as out-gunned by the Serbs as they were in 1992, would have instigated a war with their then Bosnian Croats "allies".

And I always remember the alleged meedting between Tudjman and Milosevic at Karadjordjevo in March 1991, at which they secretly agreed to carve up BiH in the shape of an "S" -- half to Serbia, half to Croatia.

Unless someone on this site could prove me wrong, I'd have to say the the Croatian PM is talking complete nonsense.
