Good sentiment, PZ, but sometimes I think there is no hope for people that sick. I would say prison and then never let him/them around animals again.

While I can sort of see pz's more pragmatic approach, a good part of me would love to see this sick @#$&% suffer a fate far worse than what was done to this poor little dog.

People who can do this can also hurt some child tomorrow if they get same monstrous idea. They should be locked for good!

This scum should be in a cage with a pack of rabid bull terriers.

On a positive note, the tremendous outpouring of support and sympathy for this poor creature restores my faith in the basic decency of humankind. Literally thosuands of people have come forward to offer money or a home to this dog. I was told that a vet in Spain who specializes in prosthetics for dogs is offering to do the procedure for FREE, and the mayor of BG has jumped in to help too.

From something so awful it is nice to see kindness from people of all walks of life.

These here little furry angels remind us every moment that unconditional love and trust is real, and not just a concept. Folk who lives every day with these little teachers is living with God's love,not human love.

This is great act,we want to poor Mila everything the best, but what can we do with the Truth : we wrote to B92 and to all serbian media , many time from 2005. about unlawfull mass killings dogs/cats all over Serbia,but they never said and wrote anything.Now they write because this action is necessary like a good marketing for some politicians in their preelection campaign.At the same time nobody do any action,Government too , for stop unlawfull mass killings dogs/cats, because it is cruel ,immoral ,unlawfull and expansive neverending story.Animal mafia is on the serbian scene,needs this`job`payed by public money, AND authorities don`t want implement valid laws , but do frauds in matter of rabies, together with hunters.

We want to add a Note: serbian authorities from top to bottom are guilty for Mila`s fate, and for sad fate of thousends animals, because nonimplementation valid serbian laws.

The ONLY fitting punishment for the evil people that did this is to have their hands and feet cut off too. Let the punishment fit the crime! An eye for an eye!

this is shockingly cruel. i sincerely hope mila finds a loving home and the cruel human who did this pays, and bad. the most heartenign thing about this report is that the authorities are supportive. that is simply unheard of in India and animal lovers have a regular uphill struggle fighting for their rights!!

I would adopt this baby in a heart beat if he were in the US. I wish I were closer to be able to help. The 2 dogs I have were both left for dead...but not mutilated. (One was found in the county trash dump under mounds of trash, the other ~all of 5 pounds~ was abandoned on the side of a busy highway. How sad that humans can behave in such a manner.

This is a shame on the human race. Hope the perpetrator of this crime is found soon

I would love to know whatever became of Mila... I know she was adopted by a wonderful family but the father had to undergo back surgery and I guess no would be there around the clock to help with Mila..so the poor thing was up for adoption again... I tried many time to adopt and get info on Mila but maybe by me being in the US had alot to do with that..I was planing on getting her to the US and having special legs made just for her instead she's there with rubber piping on her poor little stubs.. what happen to getting her new legs and getting adopted by the President...?? Man really all I care about is her and where she is and is she loved and cared for like she so deserves.. I love Mila and would dearly like to know where she is please respond. Thank you
