IMF pledges "multi-year" support for Greece

The IMF on Sunday greeted the 40-billion-dollar financial support package for Greece sealed in Europe.

40 billion dollars at one dose is the biggest economic assistance program in world history. And the money agreed to be supplied to Greece(if needed) are just for 2010 only... both Argentina and Russia did not have the largest economic union ever made, behind them (European Union). Greece is one of the old members of the EU. It will never fall... because Europe will fall then... so don't (desperatelly) hope it will follow the example of the above countries.

More debt so they can default later. Here's what the pros are saying:
"Often assistance packages of this nature just help “smart money” to get out ahead of a default. This could be the case here; 40-45 billion euros total money could last roughly one year. Both Russia and Argentina got large packages in the late 1990s but never regained access to private markets, so eventually everything fell apart.

Sunday’s package should make it possible for Greece to borrow short-term but it takes courage to lend for 5 or 10 years to the Greeks unless there is much more fundamental change."
