Yaroslav – why such vitriol about UK justice? You would think that the UK refused the request by Serbia to detain Ganić. They didn’t – unlike other countries who had previously ignored Serbias request. The hand of friendship is there, but you seem unable to see this.

Roberto - bganon is correct to point out that you call for release of one indictee but not others. There is no principle there. These pages are too full of people who seem to see their own “side” as entirely righteous and the other “side(s)” as entirely wrong.

Daniel,

Well stated. You are correct, we have more than our share of people in the US who spew propaganda in their pursuit of self-glorification and/or helping to push the neo-liberal economic agenda by being a government mouthpiece. In Roberto's case, I doubt very much he is a published author - he is most likely just a bitter person with delusions of grandeur and a laptop warrior.

Just for laughs, I hope he stops by Pristina to interview me sometime though.

Send him to the Hague where he will have a fair trial instead of Serbia, where he will have an unfair biased trial.
(Ian, UK, 10 April 2010 10:48)

The Hague does not dispense justice for Bosniaks and Croats – they walk in the front door and walk out the back entrance. Serbia is the best place for him.

Jason,
American book stores are filled with bogus stories about the Balkan wars, including the fabrication of massive rape camps and other horrific scifi BS. I think it makes some people feel good about themselves to believe this stuff is true. "Wow, I am a good person because I helped uncover the truth!" Unfortunately, when the truth is a lie, you uncovered nothing but your own psycho-pathology. Having read various and many accounts of the war, it is clear that Bosnian Muslims did a great deal to project an image of constant persecution at the hands of the Serbs, including not permitting water flow into Sarajevo so that people would have to run into the line of fire. This portrayed an image that Serb snipers were shooting at innocent civilians even when they were going out to get water. Thank goodness, many Western officials serving in Sarajevo have spoken out about the truth of the Bosnian war. Further, unlike Serbs, these Bosnian Muslims have failed to submit any of their war criminals to justice. Instead they continue to portray themselves as innocent victims and treat their war criminals live like kings. So this Roberto guy will just publish another book of BS that will be purchased by a number of mindless people. Roberto, I will not be purchasing your so called book because I prefer to read good books not scifi comics.

Roberto,

Your hypocrisy and self-righteousness are boundless.

Quote from Wikipedia

Sarajevo column case also known as Dobrovoljačka Street attack refers to the events of 2 May and 3 May 1992 when members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) attacked the withdrawing convoy of Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) troops that were exiting the city of Sarajevo according to the withdrawal agreement. The attack was carried out by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina after Yugoslav People's Army captured President Alija Izetbegović at Sarajevo airport the day before.

42 soldiers were killed, 71 injured and 215 imprisoned - in a retreating column.

It is illegal under international law to attack a retreating column of soldiers under a ceasefire agreement. The excuse to attack a withdrawing column of soldiers because of another event, is weak.

The hypocrisy from people like yourself is that you are gushing in your morals if this were to be perpetrated by Serbs, however supportive of the same actions by others against Serbs. People whom you hate, for no valid reason.

And you sadly justify it by repeating a mantra that the Serbs started it first, or were the worst...

Your attitude is part of the problem. There are many innocent Serbian people who suffered, just like there are many innocent ppl of all nationalities who suffered through the Balkans. There are also many war criminals being masquaraded as heroes and even politicians in some territories and conutries.

Try to be a decent person and acknowledge those facts without writing your usual diatribe about good and bad guys. this is real life we are talking about, not a movie.

Where is the principle in calling for the arrest of one suspected war criminal and for the release without trial of another?

The answer to the question is that there is no principle at all, other than one side being full of the 'goodies' and the other being full of 'baddies'.

Still, I understand, I used to think that cowboys were good and indians were bad. But I grew up...

The U.K. and its citizens have no right to talk of Serbia with this vitrol regarding war crimes.

When were trials held in the 50s-70s as de-colonization of UK colonies for massacres and cirmes UK administrators carried out?

Oh yeah there weren't.

Speaking in more modern terms. This is a country that refused to prosecute Pinochet when he was in his hands because of his friendhip with Thatcher (something incidentally Ganic has).

This is the same country who complained when Guinea arrested British citizens plotting a coup.

This is the same country that vies freedom to Berezovsky, a billionaire who openly speaks of overthrowing the Russian governmnet and has admitted given money ot Chechen terrorists.

The UK is worst then Switzerland (the bank of third world despots) talking about war crimes and such.

This is not a valid call for extradition and england should absolutely not fall for this latest serbian ploy. i don't believe they will, but the belgrade regime will put up a stink and try to make as much of the situation as they can.

actually belgrade is still crawling w/ criminals -- i am talking war criminals. i doubt that mladic is one of them -- even he should not be so stupid or brazen as to have remained right in belgrade any longer. of course he was residing there for years, fully public, as belgrade officials -- not to mention the public -- smiled on and gave him his proper "due".

that is why i never speak of milosevic alone, but always of his very willing executioners and his loyal public -- at least loyal until he lost them all of those wars. and STill loyal to his most evil executioner.

Ian the Hague had its chance to try Ganic but has never bothered to seek his trial.

Its a bit late in the day to call for his trial in the Hague now. And considering he has been living for years in Bosnia with these charges against him, its a bit late for Bosnia to try him also.

Also I don't think you should automatically assume an unfair verdict. Tadic and company has already made clear that he is not seeking to make a political point. And I believe him on this.
