Did you include that some of these returnee's were the same people who stole the valuables from houses etc when the Albanians fleed from Serbian forces in 1999 or did you do the usual "Serbs are above sin" portrayal you always depict.
I don't condone the behavior but then I do not know how I would react to the return of neighbors who persecuted, stole, under the protection of the Serbian police. But of course when Albanians returned to their homes and found nothing left, I am sure it just disappeared.
Maybe as a Eulex personnel you should be out trying to promote peaceful returns instead of trying to create more bad blood.
(curious, 5 April 2010 18:45)

A few points:

1. How do you know that these returnees committed crimes against Albanians? You don't.

2. I have never defended war crimes or other disgusting actions committed by anyone, including Serbs.

3. Most of the Serbs who committed war crimes fled and have not returned due to fear of being identified by victims, arrested and prosecuted. Think about it logically.

And on a side note - just a possibility - but I would think many Albanians do not want Serbs returning because they would have to give up stolen land and houses they have been occupying for a decade. The number of pending cases regarding land disputes is staggering and the vast majority have Serb victims who had property stolen by Albanians.

Courious.
Get serious.
If there are people among returnees who were stealing, looting property, etc. why don't you lay charges against them and take them to court?
Let legal system deal with it.
Were they able to defend themselves in a court of law, or it's enough to hear the prosecution?
Are they all guilty?
When they pelted their tents with rocks, did they aimed for the tents where "guilty" ones are, or they hurled them indisriminatelly at all tents?
At least you could stop claiming that Kosovo is upholding rule of law, rather then rule of mob.

Wim.

I just checked EULEX site and there is not a word mentioning Zac today or several days ago.
EULEX will probably ignore it.
In the eyes of Peter Faith, Brdjani is different case, I'm sure. This time those who are trying to return to their properties are unworthy Serbs.
Not long ago, in Brdjani, Serbs protested, demanding that they are allowed to rebuild their homes in the South in the same time as Albanians in Brdjani.
Peter Faith came out to call them "troublemakers" but said that everyone in Kosovo will be allowed to return to their property, and EULEX is there to make sure that this happens.
Well, here is your chance, Peter.
Make sure.
Somehow, I'm not holding my breath...

Seriously, this behavior is disgusting. I forwarded this latest example of "multi-ethnic" Kosovo to all my friends and family back home to educate them of the reality here.

Now we know who won't travel to Kazakhstan with Mr. Ramadan Limani to represent Kosovo in the 2010 IMO math olympiad.

Otherwise being an idiot shouldn't be an excuse. Would not jail these idiots - jail is THE place to learn even more ugly things. Let's hit where it is more painful - take away their guns and let them pay a lot of money. If they have to borrow from relatives - let them be in debt and have to pay back.

A drunk guy's old VW was stolen. I am sure, the ethnicity counts here, the thieves must have been boogie men of Albanian ethnicity, who waited tirelessly until an ethnic Golf 3 appeared on the horizon (they let all ethnic Alb Golfs zip by) and sprang into action. Woah, crime against Serbs, especially because it is Easter. Blah blah. Wonder how many cars were stolen in New York the same night, from lets say ethnic Italians.

Its beyond me how the West can sit and watch incidents like this to occure time and time again. And they are actually surprised Serbs in the North don't want anything to do with Pristina.
What happened to the "supervised independence"? Clearely the albanians are not capable of running their own affairs. Kosovo today is lawless, undemocratic, intolerant and being built on racist principles. Its funny to read albanian posters who say Serbs need to accept reality. Is this the reality they are refering to?

I am sure some of our resident trolls will claim the Albanian protesters were merely undercover BIA agents armed with rocks.

Kosovo on Easter just like Kosovo on any other day: crime jungle aimed to terrorize the remaining or returning Serbs with clear ambivalence and closed eye of support by Western Institutions and Reps on the ground.

In a not very different situation in Brdjani some time ago Eulex arranged permanent guarding. So why do they stay absent here? What is there position on the situation in Zac?
