"Fortunately, the people on this forum that speak most vociferously are from the diaspora. I need not mention their names, but they are paid by the government and do not represent the average Serb. Most Serbs have given up on Kosova for the lost cause that it is. Their only concern is a job and a better economy so they can provide for their children.

btw, Not that it matters since it is common knowledge, but Vuk Jeremic's Grandfather was Muslim. Any elementary search will bear this out. What is amusing is that Vuk has been traveling to many Muslim countries to try and prevent them from recognizing Kosova. He apparently mentions his family background in hopes of giving the impression that he is pro-Muslim. Meanwhile, when he visits non-Muslim countries he warns them of creating another "Muslim state". The irony is that most Albanians are no more Muslim than Vuk. Albanians are only culturally Muslim, as most people who have visited Kosova know."

Wow, what can one say to this? Please provide some evidence that we in diaspora are paid by the government to write here.
How do you know what Vuk says to the people he talks to on his trips? Are you watching over his shoulder and listening to what is said? If this is the case then you must be paid to accompany him everywhere.

Are you sure your name is not Hazel?

Open your eyes. You claim Kosova is yours and imperialists are all over the place there. Not only you follow orders but you can't do anything to kick them out. Nothing at all. If they wanna stay, they stay. Its been like that for a decade now. When they feel like leaving they'll leave. I don't see Croatia having foreign troops inside, I don't see FYROM, I don't see Montenegro, I don't see Albania, I don't see Slovenia having foreign troops. Not only that but these are the same countries that bombed you. Yet they're there and you can't do anything about it. So what is there to be proud of. They do as they please and you can't do anything about it.
(johny, 20 March 2010 06:42)

Johny,

Right on! And, may I add, the Serbs are anything but independent, they do whatever the West orders. Furthermore, they have become cozy with the Russians lately, which is never a good idea, in hopes of playing them off against the West. The only problem with that is, Tadic is no Tito. In addition, selling Russia a country's most valued asset, i.e. the oil refineries in Nis, will only come back to haunt Serbia.

Fortunately, the people on this forum that speak most vociferously are from the diaspora. I need not mention their names, but they are paid by the government and do not represent the average Serb. Most Serbs have given up on Kosova for the lost cause that it is. Their only concern is a job and a better economy so they can provide for their children.

You value your life very little. Don’t you know Serbia controls Kosovo now; no industry; no jobs; no investment unless Serbia recognizes an independent Kosovo.
It’s 12 years since freedom and democracy came to the Albanians, what has changed???? B92 recently reported RS MUP arresting some Serbs for smuggling Albanians to the EU. They are all trying to get out seeking a better life.

Mike C and Kate,

Tell us what would agenda would have looked like if Serbia would have attended the meeting?

No coffees, no teas, no cookes, but just talk, talk and talk about Serbia's sovereignity over Kosovo/a?

That would have been very boring...

Not sure about Borut - but I think, Borat is a better leader than the other two.

Some Serbs still believe that Serbia is the center of the World. Don´t you realize that nobody cares about Serbia?
(Poster, 19 March 2010 18:48)

Of course we're not the center of the world.., but we've changed this "center" in our past and changed the destiny of empires.. This is about to happen again.

No, we can not realize "that nobody cares about Serbia" and why should we?!

The upcoming powers and "empire candidates" are supporting us, why should we understand that? There's 100 and more countries didn't "fell down" or accepted "the cookie" in someone's else favor.., there's no reason to believe in no ones care about Serbia.

Only the egoist and ignorant one- who hates Serbia, or doesn't care himself, can believe that.

This is the Emperors' clothes all over again.

The EU and EC representatives are not attending, Spain is not attending, and Serbia is not attending... and the Slovenian PM is quoting from Annie: "Tomorrow will be another day".

Doesn't that send any signals to those celebrating?

The international conference which will matter will be under Spain's watch, and they will abide by Resolution 1244, insisting that if Kosovo attends it is referred to as Kosovo-UNMIK.

That means that Zoran's wonderful plane will stay grounded on that occasion, which is the relevant and important event.

That is very funny. There will be lots of mutual backslapping and a statement released which paraphrased says: "We don't care that Serbia didn't come to our party, we had a great time anyway and talked about lots of very important things. It was so important that we are now going to issue a press release containing lots of strong statements."

Unfortunately our leaders are stuck in a hole and do not know how to get out of there.
We are getting more and more isolated because we do not have any leader that has a clear vision of future.
Our foreign minister Jeremic goes to Oman or Congo, but fails to meet with neighbors. If we dont have good relationships with our neighbors then what good will Oman bring to us?

Looks like Serbia has, once again, chosen to cut off its nose to spite its face. And, to add insult to injury, no one seemed to notice. However, the meeting in Slovenia is long overdue and there are many important items common to all the attending countries that needed to be addressed.

Bob

pre 14 godina

This is not a big deal. Tadic is right not to attend.

Serbia will probably boycott many other meetings in the future - but it will be necessary.

Meetings that have to be made with Serbia will just be made elsewhere - often outside of any publicised forum. Serbia is too significant a player for the issues to go unaddressed.

The effect of conferences involving a mis-represented Kosovo will therefore diminish. It won't be worth the bother.

“… Milo Đukanović is already in Slovenia”

Strange as it is but these few words irritate me most. He is a kinda Yushenko whose main goal is to quarrel for long the two brother peoples. Milo’s main problem is that Serbs let them go without a bloodshed. So he creates artificial antagonisms. He is an amateur provoker who can reach his goal only if Serbs will help him to do so. If I were you I would certainly take the successful Russian strategy used during Yushenko. Serbs should patient to wait for the Montenegrins to wake up. Then the Ukrainian scenario will come true in Montenegro. As you know Yushenko failed to split the two brother nations and instead received a split inside the Ukrainian nation. Desperation is not the Serbian way and I hope you are smart enough to work out strategy against this provocative agent of influence. Milo is more dangerous than Hashim & the gang. Ad hoc a Russian song runs :

“На врагов всегда найдем управу ,
Как бы их судьба не берегла …“

(Bekim, 19 March 2010 15:49)

No they can't. By the time Serbia is ready to join no single EU member state will be able to block the entry to Serbia. It may have been usefully crude blackmail against Croatia (a not very 'European' way of resolving issues with ones neighbor), but if Slovenia values it business with Serbia then the sword can swing both ways not to mention the massive pressure Slovenia would come under from other EU states. No Serbia in the EU = no stability pact = big mess for EU policy in the Balkans. It is not as if Bg or Ro are leading the region in any sphere, and Greece is neutered.

BTW, has Slovenia yet prosecuted that guy for murder who strangled the JNA conscript in public back before the war? The last thing I heard was that despite clear v/t evidence nothing has happened. Of course, Slovenia being an 'favorite' get a free pass on this and its other human rights abuses. European values indeed.

I'm sorry to say but that plan failed a decade ago. Republika Srpska ended up prospering instead of Federacija (which had billions pumped into it) while Serbia ended up being the powerhouse of the Balkans.

We will just have to wait for the EU conference organised by Spain to show that it is not Serbia but "Kosova" that is isolated in the region.

Tomorrow we have two arms, two legs and an artificial limb attending without the torso or head. In Sarajevo we'll have the whole body without the artificial limb. It's not difficult to determine which will be successful.

well done, if it isn´t a promise of tadic like in pre-elections time ...

now the self-declared leaders & superpowers slovenia and croatia can have a chit-chat with the self-declared sultans of pristina, and later, at the real eu-w.balkans conference in sarajevo, they can listen to eu and serbia without their buddies & economic allies from occupied parts of serbias province ...

the sultans saved face, the twins-in-crime slovenia and croatia look important, and serbia stays adault ...

a win-win for everyone, of course on different levels, but thats usual in win-win-situations ... :-)

ok, i was lieing, i don´t think that slovenia will ever again in the next time get a chance to organize something it can´t handle, but restbosnia can ....

while croatia on the other side is always a winner, 20 years secure eu-candidate (only turks show less brain being 50 years candidate), always there when the important guys meet (i guess the domestic know-how of serving worse coffee and even worser food at the adriatic is helpful at conferences), and still dreaming of an entry before serbia (as if serbia will ever become eu-member).

it´s the little successes that make you happy i guess ...

on the other side: boy, must that hurt, hm? slovenia, bulgaria, romania did attack and betray serbia, but they didn´t genozide the people of neghbouring states like krajina, they didn´t start wars, slovenia grabbed all of yougoslavias money first, but still croatia is something like europes turkey ...

the only hope they have: they will enter before albania, only because of the fact that albania never will enter eu ...

"Why is the host country(s) so concerned about Serbias participation?

(Mikael C, 19 March 2010 15:35) "

This was intended to be a West Balkan conference - everyone was invited, it was intended to demonstrate that the region is ready to join the EU. According to the EUObserver "major western powers want to show Belgrade it is isolated in the region over Kosovo and that things can go on if needed without Serbia." Coming up with some clever formula that would allow both sides to attend would have been a feather in the organizers' caps, of course, but at least they will have demonstrated that they made every conceivable effort to accommodate Serbia, which should allow Rompuy to attend.

They can stop us dead on the track to EU! Why would they do that? Because we won't recognize the theft of Kosovo? What does that say about the EU. "Do as we say or you can't join"? Why should Serbia join if it can't have an opinion and think freely? I can tell that albanians don't have a clue about what democracy means. Your way of dealing with things is through intimidation and threats. Look at the Serb minority in Kosovo. If they don't accept albanian rule they will be harrassed and killed. No understanding for their position what so ever. That's why there can never be peace with albanians.

Seems that the justice is prevailing; Serbia is with no doubt loosing (logically) its ground with an unseen anachronism up to now. By the way, upcoming summit in Slovenia will be attended by all relevant Balkans leaders; they have all recognized Kosovo’s independence, eventually they seem to be fed up with irrationalities launched by such a stubborn attitude of an actor with so bad reputation of the recent history.

European values indeed.

well done, if it isn´t a promise of tadic like in pre-elections time ...

now the self-declared leaders & superpowers slovenia and croatia can have a chit-chat with the self-declared sultans of pristina, and later, at the real eu-w.balkans conference in sarajevo, they can listen to eu and serbia without their buddies & economic allies from occupied parts of serbias province ...

the sultans saved face, the twins-in-crime slovenia and croatia look important, and serbia stays adault ...

a win-win for everyone, of course on different levels, but thats usual in win-win-situations ... :-)

ok, i was lieing, i don´t think that slovenia will ever again in the next time get a chance to organize something it can´t handle, but restbosnia can ....

while croatia on the other side is always a winner, 20 years secure eu-candidate (only turks show less brain being 50 years candidate), always there when the important guys meet (i guess the domestic know-how of serving worse coffee and even worser food at the adriatic is helpful at conferences), and still dreaming of an entry before serbia (as if serbia will ever become eu-member).

it´s the little successes that make you happy i guess ...

on the other side: boy, must that hurt, hm? slovenia, bulgaria, romania did attack and betray serbia, but they didn´t genozide the people of neghbouring states like krajina, they didn´t start wars, slovenia grabbed all of yougoslavias money first, but still croatia is something like europes turkey ...

the only hope they have: they will enter before albania, only because of the fact that albania never will enter eu ...

You said Pristina international airport? Joke of the month! It is by far the most filthy and dirty airport I have been to next to Dhaka. Maybe you know that Pristina AP lost their licence a couple of years ago when the air-controllers left the tower to strike. Only after Unmik intervention the licence was saved so people can leave and come to this black hole called Kosovo to try to make it work there. But, Unmik was not greeted at all in Kosovo. I would gladly bet 10000 euro that after the ICJ verdict, the fun part for Kosovo is over for good. Wait and see.

That would be a very poor judgement of the Serbian leader. When a leader of one country makes a poor judgment that he should not blame the other for the consequences of actions/inaction.

Unhappy Serbian

pre 14 godina

Unfortunately our leaders are stuck in a hole and do not know how to get out of there.
We are getting more and more isolated because we do not have any leader that has a clear vision of future.
Our foreign minister Jeremic goes to Oman or Congo, but fails to meet with neighbors. If we dont have good relationships with our neighbors then what good will Oman bring to us?
I have to express my unhappiness towards our leaders who have no vision but just empty talk.

well done, if it isn´t a promise of tadic like in pre-elections time ...

now the self-declared leaders & superpowers slovenia and croatia can have a chit-chat with the self-declared sultans of pristina, and later, at the real eu-w.balkans conference in sarajevo, they can listen to eu and serbia without their buddies & economic allies from occupied parts of serbias province ...

the sultans saved face, the twins-in-crime slovenia and croatia look important, and serbia stays adault ...

a win-win for everyone, of course on different levels, but thats usual in win-win-situations ... :-)

ok, i was lieing, i don´t think that slovenia will ever again in the next time get a chance to organize something it can´t handle, but restbosnia can ....

while croatia on the other side is always a winner, 20 years secure eu-candidate (only turks show less brain being 50 years candidate), always there when the important guys meet (i guess the domestic know-how of serving worse coffee and even worser food at the adriatic is helpful at conferences), and still dreaming of an entry before serbia (as if serbia will ever become eu-member).

it´s the little successes that make you happy i guess ...

on the other side: boy, must that hurt, hm? slovenia, bulgaria, romania did attack and betray serbia, but they didn´t genozide the people of neghbouring states like krajina, they didn´t start wars, slovenia grabbed all of yougoslavias money first, but still croatia is something like europes turkey ...

the only hope they have: they will enter before albania, only because of the fact that albania never will enter eu ...

Hehe, so now it is just informal meeting!
(TITO, 19 March 2010 16:12)

Formal or informal is a formality indeed. The fact that regional leaders (BH included) will be treated just as Kosovo head of state speaks volumes. Tadic may not be there but the birth-country will, and I'm not talking about Tito's Yugo but BiH.

“На врагов всегда найдем управу ,
Как бы их судьба не берегла …“

but i blame Tadic on this one he had to have known what the sentiment was going to be in that meeting of "the former yugo crew"

that conference is done with. no tadic or serbia means the rest will all be looking at their watches for a time to leave..

Looks like Serbia has, once again, chosen to cut off its nose to spite its face. And, to add insult to injury, no one seemed to notice. However, the meeting in Slovenia is long overdue and there are many important items common to all the attending countries that needed to be addressed.

Ok we all know that one between Tadic and Thaci have to remain home..so no news at all ...very interesting will be the Sarajevo meeting because Spain has Eu presidency and MUST DECIDE between what he would like (No thaci & Seidu and red carpet to Clooney) and what EU majority would like (inviting Seidu & Thaci and Clooney for a nice picture )...

independent thinking people, and we don't follow the orders of imperialists like all our neighbours do with such zeal.
Cheers!!
(Dragan, 19 March 2010 18:32)

"They can stop you dead on the track to EU. Of course Serbia can become a member of Russian Federation as the smallest province. I mean you are almost there, a Russian base at Nish and Gazprom has already bought half of your country. Enjoy."
Bekim

They can stop us dead on the track to EU! Why would they do that? Because we won't recognize the theft of Kosovo? What does that say about the EU. "Do as we say or you can't join"? Why should Serbia join if it can't have an opinion and think freely? I can tell that albanians don't have a clue about what democracy means. Your way of dealing with things is through intimidation and threats. Look at the Serb minority in Kosovo. If they don't accept albanian rule they will be harrassed and killed. No understanding for their position what so ever. That's why there can never be peace with albanians.

Aleks

Their only concern is a job and a better economy so they can provide for their children.

btw, Not that it matters since it is common knowledge, but Vuk Jeremic's Grandfather was Muslim. Albanians are only culturally Muslim, as most people who have visited Kosova know.

Mr Tadic he has rights to do anything he wants he can stay home if he wants or he can go dinner together with jeremic boy so they can talk about next smart move to make,,,,

Bob

pre 14 godina

This is not a big deal. Tadic is right not to attend.

Serbia will probably boycott many other meetings in the future - but it will be necessary.

Meetings that have to be made with Serbia will just be made elsewhere - often outside of any publicised forum. Serbia is too significant a player for the issues to go unaddressed.

The effect of conferences involving a mis-represented Kosovo will therefore diminish. It won't be worth the bother.
