Probably I should be more specific about Lord Byron and say more explicitly what was that posting about.
Lord Byron - like many in England - was very exited about the struggle for Greek independence. They (in England) did imagine romantic things about the struggle. They had no idea, who the revolutionary are.
Upon arriving they were greatly disappointed: the heroic revolutionaries they imagined based probably on the Spartan resistance to Persians few thousand years before turned out to be...mountaineers. Some had Greek mother tongue, some "Arvanite". He (Byron) did not expect, these "savage" can fight at all. And he was shocked at the food they ate.
He was wrong, as we know - regarding both.
Here I do not want to be the judge. All I wanted to say: my deepest appreciation to Greeks and Albanians who contributed to Turks being kicked out for good. I want to see that stupid conflict being finished.
While I do not agree with some things on this link, it's worth to listen to the music and there are many things which are AFAIK, correct.
