That's what Germans thought of your kind not long ago. You received billions from them in the last 20 years and u live a little better now, and yet are passing judgements upon others.

Remember Poland is not the cream of the crop of science and technlogy, even though you are 20 times more than Albanians, and Albanians only 50 yrs ago were 1 mil people all together, yet with figures like Scanderbeg, Mother Teresa, are far ahead from you I think.
I mean come on, if it was a German, Fin or a French to say this, I will swallow hard and agree to it, but a Polish guy ... give me a break.
(Denis, 13 March 2010 22:50)

And Germans received billions from the USA (ever heard of the Marshall Plan?), so what's your point?

Albanians ahead of Poland? I have never heard of any Albanian scientists on the scale of Copernicus, Lukasiewicz and Curie-Sklodowska. Mother Teresa and Skenderbeg have nothing to do with science or technology (also, how are they greater than Pope John Paul II and Jan III Sobieski).

And what was the point of using Fins as an example over us? They are richer because they didn't have 50 years of communism. That's all.

Since when do Albanians belong to the progressive world? Albanians are (aside from Moldovans) the poorest nation in Europe, and hardly the first nation that pops into mind when talking about progression in technology, science, economics and sport.

And why would you want to steal more lands that don't belong to you? (Peter Sudyka, 12 March 2010 21:40)

[Since when do Albanians belong to the progressive world? Albanians are (aside from Moldovans) the poorest nation in Europe, and hardly the first nation that pops into mind when talking about progression in technology, science, economics and sport.

And why would you want to steal more lands that don't belong to you? Europe already has one black hole/drug centre/criminal haven called Kosovo. Do you really want more of those?]

@ Peter and all Albanians or non Albanians: we should all avoid this cheap rhetoric that won't take our countries far. Yes, Albania can be a poor country and it is still trying to recover the lost time for which, the long communist isolation is the only one to be blamed. However, progress is not measured only on economic terms. Progress to me, also means how a civil society treats its own citizens regardless of their ethnic backgrounds, race and so on. I believe that all of us as Balkanians should set our differences apart and work together and before we do that, we need to change our mentality and approach to resolving old and inherited issues. Pointing fingers at one another won't take us far. Nationalism didn't take any of us far neither. We can't decide who our neighbours should be and we share a lot more than we like to admit. Let's learn from the errors of the past and let's try to build a peaceful future together. If anything, do it for your children, let them live in a better world than the one you are currently living in.

cheers

Yes, the ones who are going in the details what their opponents do NOT have under the fustanella are usually here on vacation only.

Imagine, you have a wet dream that you rally in your 1975 model Trabant around Tatabánya heroically protecting the Turul statue from Serbs / Croats. Than out of sudden you wake up...

....And there you are, in your humble 4000 sq ft. home in N.Y. State and tomorrow is the appointment for the first smog test of your 2007 Lexus. And not just the only Serb around is the Slovene waiter of the Cafe Jadran in close-by Mamakating - but you can't even drive cars with manual transmission.

It's pretty horrible situation - your only way out of the depression is to go on B92 and play the cyber-ogre.

God most of the comments posted here are so illogical and a true reflection of the mentality holding the Balkan region backward. Grow up people it doesn't matter which land belongs to whom, it's irrelevant. It's time for Balkan nations to unite and integrate into the EU. Cooperation is your only hope!

Pyrros, Thank you very much for your comment. I agree. But you have to agree as well that Kosovo is Serbia as much as whole Albania and North part of today Greece is Serbia too based on those toponyms. Does 13 century, when Serbian Empire has occupied even half of Greece for long time. Does it make Greece any Serbian at all? Coincidently, whole area that you describe with Serbian toponyms are Albanian area which include Cameria in North of today Greece. Hans Christian stop being so blatantly selective and biased.
I guess you wouldn't support your "anti-soviet" "pro-western" "anti-slav" "pro-democratic" ideas, if it was e.g. for some Serb politician to visit Serb enclaves in Kosovo?

Or even the "DEMOCRATIC" will of N.Kosovo to join Serbia...
Or even RepSrpska to DEMOCRATICALLY join Serbia..

PS
The use of the word "soviet" as a term of low value seem to sound nothing in comparison to the term "WESTERN hypocrisy"

--
(Jan Andersen (DK), 12 March 2010 19:14)

Not at all - but as a VIP and if on official visit you can't do what you want. There is a certain pre-arranged protocol and a large group of people is working behind the scenes to ensure, everything goes smoothly. There is a lot of reasons for that - beginning with security and ending with the concern that there won't be any PR disaster.

Two things come in mind:

1) Kouchner's outburst
2) László Sólyom who as a head of the state is a complete PR disaster by himself and is a rare example of a president who is barely on speaking term with every neighbor of the country. It is a common knowledge that it's very difficult to work with him and this is why so many of his visits into neighbor countries are "private". Like in last few cases he became a pain in the rear for his counterparts as diverse as Yulia Timoshenko or Boris Tadic.

Good we see things going so far smooth on this Serbian-Albanian meeting.

I truly hope that most of the Serbs don't think this way, if history should have taught you anything .... but it's up to you.

Pyrros, it doesn't take a genious to know that the slavic names of the Alb areas are of course from the time of slavic invasions. There is not only Serbian names, there is Bulgarian ones as well. And because Alb was not a written language they stays as such Slavic, not tyhe names of smaller areas and streets and passages though they are albanian.

In fact some slavic named areas in south are claimed to be Greek lands from your extremists.... so u have a contradiction there.

If anything, do it for your children, let them live in a better world than the one you are currently living in.

cheers

I'd say many of the comments here are quite bizarre...

So if I got this right, many of the posters here believe that our ancestors had so much fun slaughtering each other over the centuries that their dying wish were for this generation and all the ones to come to keep doing the same...

Well, I personally like to flirt with the idea that this meeting and hopefully many others in the future, will demonstrate that the Balkans need not become the lands of the masochists and the dumb.

Apparently you are one of the greatest contributors to this level of communication. Congratulations on your achievement and to B92 for being so selective and biased in the messages that allows through.

So miri, how do you know how many messages don't make it through?
What about reasons they don't get through? Do you know that as well?

That's what Germans thought of your kind not long ago. You received billions from them in the last 20 years and u live a little better now, and yet are passing judgements upon others.

Remember Poland is not the cream of the crop of science and technlogy, even though you are 20 times more than Albanians, and Albanians only 50 yrs ago were 1 mil people all together, yet with figures like Scanderbeg, Mother Teresa, are far ahead from you I think.
I mean come on, if it was a German, Fin or a French to say this, I will swallow hard and agree to it, but a Polish guy ... give me a break.

That's all.
