You can call it My Left Foot Kosovo Security Force if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy, but it is not military nor is it an ARMY nor will the US/EU allow Albanians to have an army in Kosovo. They are just employing a couple of Albanians to keep them busy, nothing else.
As a Serb I am happy for the current lot keeping the Albanians under control – why throw away good money after bad, let the US do that. S

Rapist and criminals in the north! Wow! The only criminals are those in Priština. Actually I also want NATO out of Kosovo. Then it will take 48 hours to VS to regain Serbian territory.

"it takes years to build an army, and longer if its a professional one." (Pejoni)

-- Weren't you the one a few days ago thinking all you needed to do was give some guns to a bunch of unemployed Albanian kids in Pristina and have them storm the north?

"If you read the quoted paragraph from the statement above, you can only conclude that what KFOR is saying is "dont make a big fuss about whether the KSF is an army or not at this point, once we leave you will have your army". (Nick-KS)

-- I'm afraid by that time Serbia will already have negotiated its MUP back in Serb-dominated municipalities. KFOR has made it clear they have no interest in Kosovo-UNMIK having an army of its own beyond a light defense force.

"It is clearly stated that HONOR GUARD will in the future use "demilitarized firearms". (olf)

-- It clearly says in the following paragraph: "...the Kosovo Security Force has no military or defense role, considering that this is the role of KFOR," so I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. KSF will still be given whistles to blow when a problem arises and a real army is needed, though I highly doubt VS will be encroaching on your controlled territory any time soon.

"I hope you don't think NATO/KFOR is here to stay forever." (RKS)

-- You know, I'm sure the Koreans thought the same thing in 1953. I’m sure the Iraqis thought likewise in 2003.

"NATO is behaving everyday more and more like a colonization force than peace keepers and should get the hell out of Kosova." (Bekim)

-- But look on the bright side. You're not ruled by Belgrade anymore, right? That's what you people wanted, and that what my people gave you. So the details are somewhat fuzzy, but the ends justify the means, right?

as I mentioned before it's called KOSOVO SECURITY FORCE. It is a military. Why are you so keen to make fun of it? According to your bore-arguments about 1244 you should have Serbian MUP around here....I don't see anything that looks Serbian anywhere. I'll take that "demilitarized" weapons (for now) any day over anything Serbian.

American Eagle

The title of this story is misleading, either intentionally or unintentionally. It is clearly stated in the story that the requirement to use demilitarized weapons applies only to the KSF HONOR GUARD.

Therefore, the title should be.

Ataman,

A reply to your joke:

1. We dont ask our women about the news, our radios are tuned to Radio Free Europe (in Serbian language) and we leave it by the bed all night long, just in case someone in belgrade had too much Slivovitce and decides to enact the battle of Kosovo with him as King Lazar. Then we go get our demilitarized gun.

2. True, there was less garbage in city streets before the war, but that was because of fear some MUP officer passing by was having a bad day and decided to beat you or send you to the MUP station for "questioning" and not because of administrative efficiency of the Serbian local authorities.

3. Jobs? Read you history, the best job i had in 1998 was selling ice cream in a local neighboorhood where all the local serbs were served for free, because they were so special.

4. We have license plates too, its actually the Serbs in the rest of Kosova that dont.

5. For some reason people think there were no electricity cuts before the war. Granted, they were not as severe as they were 2 years ago in Kosova, but they were still quite severe. The reasons were because Serbia had to sell its extra power to someone, so why not to the Albanians.

6. Finally, the woman does not have to bring the gun, she has to bring a fire craker, i through it and NATO bombs Serbia in retaliation.

We what, copying you? Who use HK beside special police and special units of Serbia? Unlike you, our ordinary security force will be using them and not only "specialized units". A better respond will be, why is Serbia bying weapons from the very same country that bombed your country not long ago? Why not support Russia instead and buy from them, or perhaps Chinese who still support your greater Serbia borders?
(Pejoni, 11 March 2010 12:46)

Can you give me a clue, because I don't know, what have we bought (on that scale) in recent history (20yrs) from the "country it bombed us"? (except- we call "samples")

On what exactly you base ALL your opinions?

It is, actually, bigger chance that you'll find a reseller of Serbia manufactured weapons at every corner of the world right now and I'm sure it was already offered to you... But you desperately want to look as our Special Forces, aren't you? This is not solution. You will never have army in literary meaning of that word. Never.

Nick KS

pre 14 godina

"The agreement also confirmed that the Kosovo Security Force has no military or defense role, considering that this is the role of KFOR"

There is a very good reason why KFOR objected to the use of KSF armed soldiers in events such as this.

The Serb posters who reveled in this news need to keep in mind that KFOR is also, training, counseling and arming the KSF.

KFOR's objection was their way of pleasing the member states who have not recgnized Kosovo. But in the meantime they are also pleasing other larger and more important member states by training and arming the KSF.

If you read the quoted paragraph from the statement above, you can only conclude that what KFOR is saying is "dont make a big fuss about whether the KSF is an army or not at this point, once we leave you will have your army".

Our leaders should not have caused this missunderstanding in the first place, KFOR is, after all jsut about the only international body in Kosova who rarely, if ever, raised the issue of neutrality.

If Hashim Thaqi wants to pick a fight with someone, then he should pick a fight with EULEX.

In 2-3 years Kosovo's army will have 10.000 soldiers, by that time there wont be many KFOR personal, propably less then 100 to mentor the new professional army. It takes years to build an army, and longer if its a professional one.

Then we go get our demilitarized gun.

2. True, there was less garbage in city streets before the war, but that was because of fear some MUP officer passing by was having a bad day and decided to beat you or send you to the MUP station for "questioning" and not because of administrative efficiency of the Serbian local authorities.

5. For some reason people think there were no electricity cuts before the war. Granted, they were not as severe as they were 2 years ago in Kosova, but they were still quite severe. The reasons were because Serbia had to sell its extra power to someone, so why not to the Albanians.

Now that's a clear statement on what the KSF is ("whose missions include rapid reaction, clearing explosives, and civil protection") and what it's not ("Kosovo Security Force has no military or defense role")

Though this definition has always been given since the very formation of KSF, it seems like it wasn't crystal clear to some posters here and to some people in the Kosovo administration.
