U.S. pulling troops from Kosovo

Why don't these NATO talking heads just say the truth, "We need these troops to fight our war in Afghanistan, we just hope the albanians don't start trouble again when we leave".

But, but, but...

I thought we were going to keep all the troops here to force the north to accept Pristina! How can this be?

Looks like this is yet another indicator that no one is forcing the Serbs in the north to do anything. Maybe this is a win for democracy after all?

Hmmm inherit something that isn't yours, anyone see a pattern here.

They are needed for another quagmire, Afghanistan.

Guess, desperate to get them instead to Afghanistan.

This is the only way you can possibly have some base.., but we have plans to make chicken farm over there.

What are you going to do with empty buildings? When the US left Clarke Airforce Base and Subico Naval Base in the Phillipines the US destroyed everything they did not want to take with them. Even the cabling for light fittings were pulled out and burnt and light fitting smashed.

The most valuable asset is the shop where you buy goodies at high discount and the banks/ATM. You better shop inside sooner, because if they leave the shop will close, too. The no-fee banks / no-fee ATM-s are irrelevant for you.

Thaci and co. will probably paint Bondsteel yellow as a symbol of victory and peace and blah, blah, blah.

Pejoni's comment reflect what I have always said about the Albanians. Always looking for a handout. When Monteith closed, we took everything we could use. Some SEAhuts were donated to the KPC but the wood rotted at their base next to Slim Lines after being left unconstructed. We have new and more important bases in Romania and Bulgaria where we can use the remnants of Bondsteel. Of course, I'm sure we will see the Albanians picking through what is left for metals seeing as scrap metal is the main export of Kosovo.

The neutered KSF can't even carry bullets so don't expect to have anything close to an American military base.
