It shows your lack of understanding about politics when you say “forget the US the real question is whether SRS is good for Serbia”. Firstly the US/EU meddles in Serbian politics. You see if they don’t like someone they call them evil and undermine the government so it takes a fall. Read about the Australian Government of the 1970s under Gough Whitlam and how the US caused his downfall, then you might begin to understand.
The current Government is liked by the US/EU, but thankfully there are people that keep this lot under control otherwise they would sell their own mothers for a buck.
Tadic and co are still borrowing and living off that money. The real problem will occur when that money runs out and by that time Tadic and co will have gone leaving a mess for someone else to sort out. My sources in the financial sector tell me that Tadic is not really doing much to strengthen Serbia’s economy and is just getting them further more into debt.
This visa free travel in the EU and the SAA is only happening because the US/EU fear losing Tadic and co, not because they are democratic loving politicians.

AS far as academic qualifications are concerned, I can tell you that Radovan Karadjic’s qualifications even in the 1990s were recognized outside of the old Yugoslavia. Franjo Tudjamn wrote a thesis on how Tito singlehandedly won WW2 and Tito smiled upon him, while the other two have what one would call “soft qualifications”. I know people that are illiterate but have Honorary Doctorates (I’m talking about the west not Serbia), which is an insult to hard working academics that spend up to 4 years completing their qualifications.
Not releasing Seselj has, like Abu Grahib prison, undermined western credibility to the point that a very large number of countries would never negotiate with the US – for example North Korea. You either have the rule of law or you don’t; you can’t be half pregnant. If they can do this to him what is stopping them from bringing the same “law” to your country where you are locked up for months or years without evidence or fair trial.
Seselj will always be a threat to the west – this I guarantee you.

'Seselj is a real danger to the US/EU because he can still muster enough support from the Serbian people. If the economy goes bad then there will be more listening to the likes of the Radicals.'

Forget about the US sj, the real question is whether SRS would be good for Serbia... Exactly.

Besides, haven't you noticed the Serbian economy has gone bad, very bad in fact and still no sign of the radicals, thank god.

John Levy, Dr or not he is plain Seselj to me and Serbs do not bow to titles - especially when many of them were paid for at various establishments. Dr Franjo Tudjman, Dr Radovan Karadzic, Dr Mirjana Markovic - not exactly an advertisment for jaw, jaw, jaw, more of a case of we love war, war, war.

But like I said, even if Seselj is a warmonger who deserves nothing - his rights have been undermined in the delay for his trial (after the man handed himself over).

And yep the Hague are doing the governing authorities a favour by holding onto him - well they were anyway. Now probably he is less of a threat, perhaps he will be let go.

As I know Hague and international relations as UN cannot be sued, let me know if I'm wrong

Dr. Jonathan Levy

Dr. Seselj will be victorious and will return to Serbia soon. There has never been any competent evidence against him which is why they ICTY is now attempting to hold him on contempt charges.

Can he sue the Hague tribunal if he is acquitted and released?
(JohnBoy, 7 March 2010 20:57)

Yes, He can.

There's many other "peaces to collect".., after those years. Unlikely to me.

Most rational people agree that even that Kangaroo Court does not have any evidence to hold Seselj, but I would not be surprised if they hold him longer under some or other pretext such as not tipping his hat to the judge on several occasions or insulting the Court for this or that reason.

"The prosecution's witnesses thus far have not contributed to it in any spectacular manner, rather they enabled the public to learn that there is no indictment against Šešelj. For this reason we expect his acquittal," he told reporters during a news conference in Belgrade on Sunday"

And the kangaroo court puts their bounce to a halt !!... LOL good day my people :)
