We can all see how the system works.Here we have private banks that were lending money to companies and individuals which were connected with the same banks.

For example,directors and chaimen of the banks were given loans to buy shares in these banks and then the shares were used as collateral against these loans.

Borrowers were then allowed to defer paying interest on the loan until the end of the period, when the whole amount plus interest accrued was due. These same loans were then written off days before the banks collapsed.

It suffices to say that most of the monies lend to these crooks were invested in UK on retail groups and even football clubs(West Ham United).

Now the IMF together with the goverments of UK &Holland have made a condition to Iceland that in order to have access to IMF bailout its citizens must pay
back the guranteed deposits those two countries have paid
to their citizens which had deposited funds with those banks.

I am glad to see the Icelanders waving the two fingers to IMF,UK and Dutch goverments.

There is no obligation on the Icelandic government, let alone the individual Icelandic citizen to make up the shortfall.Instead they should arrest and prosecute all those individuals who reside in the paradise of money laundering.The uk.

Unless of course you mean the kind of deals EU undemocratic countries strike behind their voters backs.

As to the referendum, good to see that they refused to be sucked by these two countries.
At the end why should the people pay for the collapse of a private bank. Sorry for the people that lost money buy they accepted at the end their money to be placed there, most probably due to higher interest rates, grid never pays...

Im I understanding this correctly? The UK/Netherlands rescued collapsed Icelandic banks, to make good on accounts held by British and Dutch citizens. And now a referendum has been rejected by the Icelandic citizens, that asked for them to pay back British and Dutch for saving the aforementioned bank. This is mind-boggling. Why should the citizens of Iceland be held accountable for the dirty doings of their nations' banks, and the high-yield seeking depositors that supported them? No one has offered to pay me back the money I lost on Lehman and AIG.

A recent poll by Gallup and the European Fund for the Balkans found that only 8% of Croatian respondents thought Croatia was going in the right direction. Their is only single digits support for the EU or joining it. The only thing it will bring is higher unemployment. Sell off of companys not what is good for Croatia but what is good for the predatory businesses & Co in the EU. Soon the Balkans people will look like the North American Indians waiting for their 5 euro welfare EU treaty money. For the supposed self serving EU business rite to do what ever is in their best greedy interest not yours ,unabashed greed will rule the day. Im sure a lot of the politicians will cash in on it and be their mouth pieces and tell us how rosy it is and how good we have it. Just the politicians and their political supporters will have it good with their big mouths. It is just under a another guise and pretence of the age old master/slave relation.
