Iceland holds referendum on Icesave repayment plan

So why should each of the 300000 Icelanders get saddled with $150000 debt to pay back monies lost by private icelandic banks? It wasn't their bank, it was the shareholders bank. Let the people who gambled by stupidly lending them money take the loss. What on earth has this got to do with your average Joe in Iceland? Why is it his debt?

I think the Icelanders should politely tell the british and Dutch goverments to go and get lost.They can't pay thet won'pay.Simple

Lender has also responsibility when they lend if the client can manage the debt. Not just look at the supposed profits in the end. Like they say dont count your chickens before they hatch. Iceland depends a lot on fishing for its economic health. I guess the fish didn't bite the bait,mostly the bankers bit they are and should be on the hook. The bankers bit the wrong bait called greed that is happening more and more times. The fish are getting smarter the bankers dumber.
