Most of the people violating Schengen visa rules from Serbia are ethnic Serbs. And there are now plenty of them - tens of thousands. I assume Belgrade will use their passport as toilet paper as soon as Serbian government can catch them.

There is similar problem with Macedonians.

Balkan generally is a problematic area. We have Gypsy beggars from Romania and asylum seekers from Bulgaria.

I don't get it.

Why don't Albanians move to Albania!

What about the theory of their ties to the ILLYRIANS?

I didn't know that Belgium was founded by Albanians.

No one gets it !!! They claim to be patriotic and all but show nothing for it. Concidering their actions they only hurt their image more, and taint even more their own history. They complain about Serbian policies, like "it matters" to them since their "independant" LOL.. yet they look away from their own native lands' issues. Whats going on in Albania, have their citizens given up on that country? :)

Good to see there are people like me 10 year expat, not as long as you but getting there slowly :)).

To your point on respecting the country i totally agree with this part but saying all K- Albanians do not respect etc I think am sure you have valid point for potion but not all.

I know some Albanians in swiss since i lived there as well and they are very nice, well educated.

Yes they will allowed back provided they have the papers that prove they are Serbian citizens.

I bet the Gernmans regret the day they told the Albanians that Yugoslavia no longer existed and the ID papers were worthless and should be thrown away - so they did as they were told. Now they have something in the order of 200 000.

Bilbao, you are right to point this, but it is a matter of integration and k-a have had a hard time to integrate because too many of them have been abusing and are still abusing our hospitaly and therefore are not welcomed!
I keep on repeating it here, their image in the EU is horrible and reading their nationalistic comments here do not give us any chance to change our mind.
I know what it means to be an expact, because I am one of them for the last 20 years in various countries and believe it or not I always found my way in applying one simple rule: respect the place you are living in, respect the people you are living with!

But respect is not in everybody's vocabulary....

The actions of those would be asylum seekers not only will put on ice any thoughts the EU might have had about extending the Shengen rules to Albania and Bosnia but there is a real danger they might reverse the present arrangements applicable to other Balkan countries.

Belgium and EU in general are pretty hypocritical protesting their ignorance to the fact that the main reason for the Balkan countries seeking visa liberalisation was to facilitate the exodus of their unemployed to the EU.

However, whatever the EU does they won't be able to stem the flow of desperate unemployed people seeking better lives for themselves and their families.

EU did know this was coming Macedonia and Serbia have minorities that are persecuted, so Serbians government should instead say we will guarantee their rights as a citizen of Serbia and not just say return them back,,,where to hell. the only country that deserved to be free of visas is Albania, we know that in Albania the economy is bad but we know that minorities there are all the same as the rest of them. and Albanians can not claim asylum....i am sure EU KNEW THAT WAS COMING

Why you speak as if Serbian economy is on overdrive? Most of these people are from South serbia they could be from Bujanovc or Presevo. They could be from Kosovo as well and we all know the unemployment there is huge.

But in Serbia as well and these cases would be 300K not 300 if Serbia was ruling Kosovo.

I feel sad for people who ave to do all this for better life most people just want to have better school for their children and better standard just like many Serbians have immigrated to Austria, sweeden, Norway, etc etc.

Serbia has same problem two friend of mine just got married for papers in USA they are from Beograd and both with top Uni diplomas so stop this high pedestal and put people down.

People are quick to judge and to make assumptions. Assylum is very open issue it has many aspects: War, economic, and even a german couple took Asylum in USA for not being allowed to home school theire children.

I see some of you here quickly jump the gun thinking these people are not real Asylum seekers could it be they are persecuted in Kosovo and they are Serbs or Albanians.

And this is due to conditions in Kosovo and Serbia do you think kosovo will be better under Serbia??

Albanians "fought so hard" (NATO) for dependence and always say how great Albania is and how many gizillion trillion camillion dollars are invested there every hour yet every albanian, in both Kosovo, Macedonia and Albania, is trying to get the hell our of Dodge. Stay where you are and build your country rather then ruining someone elses.

By the way, how degrading for a proud albanian to carry a Serbian passport. This is how low albanians will go to leave the fantasy land "Dardania".

For all the recognition it looks like no one really want`s them..
But they are free to travel to and from albania all they want-little to MNE and macedonia, but they made their little cage for sure..

This is how they thank Serbia and this is how they tank Europe.
(Mikael C, 2 March 2010 14:10)

Quite a few East Europeans would love to abuse the system, too. They of course do not mind to get a bit of Belgian or Canadian social welfare. But it's more typical for a certain minority, common all over East Europe, Kosovo included. Just look under the "Gazella" bridge in BG and see what I mean.

Currently there is a similar dispute between Canada, Czech Republic and Hungary. Because Canadian social security network is very good too and visas are waived.

And since CZ and HU (and RO) are EU members - look who are on the streets of Belgium out there as beggars, what a surprise.

At the end they will be returned. What is really sad: the parents make no effort to adopt to the host country - but the children become Belgians or Canadians very fast. Going back is nothing for the parents but for children it's a major tragedy.

I question how fit these parents are to raise their numerous children to begin with and maybe adopting the kids in Belgium or Canada is the best answer.

I Don't know much about tanks Mikael but, it's not up to Serbia to decide wether these asylum seekers' claims are genuine or not. It is up to the country they seeked help from (Belgium in this case) to make those decisions.

I guess Albanian minority population does understand just the "language of enforcement", unfortunately.

Serbia must not allowed that visa-free regulation gets jeopardized by group of deliberate criminals.
Laws regulations and contracts with Schengen countries should be adjusted that all of this abusers do get repatriated by use of the shortest procedure of up to max 24 hours and that then in Serbia they are to be faced with serious legal charges.

Easy as that. Inability of Albanian minority in South cost us lifetime already and any other jeopardizing of the living conditions for law-obeying Serbians should be dismissed and sanctioned swiftly and by leaving no chance for repetition.
