Well when did Croatia exist prior to 1940? When did Macedonia (FRY) exist prior to the 1990s?? What’s even better you might tell us how Croatia obtained its freedom from the Austro Hungarians and the famous battles associated with that event.

While you’re in the library can you get some pictures of Albanian structures dating back to BCE to prove your Illyrian heritage. I have seen a lot of ignorant Albanians posting rubbish on this website perhaps you might surprise me.

It's too bad there's not any chance of Ganic going to a Switzerland jail. I think he and Roman Polanski would make fascinating cell mates. Imagine the conversation.

the hell not in my country, we have already enough of those, plus kouchner would not miss the chance to blame us for arresting his heroes friends.
Moreover our jails are equal to a luxary hotel, with tv in every room, 3 courses main menu, nice enviromnent, no definitely too nice for this kind of people.

bganon - Yes all those soldiers and the many 10s of thousands of civilians should be alive today and living in their homes. The suffering continues with no real peace in sight. A lot of people still dont learn their is no peace without real justice. We could of have and should of have had a peaceful separation like many countries that took the high road. But some thought they had a advantage over the others to fulfil their heinous darkest dreams. They thought they can accomplish their evil with the gun without any morality or consciousness of humanity. They should be in jails and the keys thrown away with all their willing murdering accomplices. As usual the minimal will be done for the victims and their families also the displaced most of all they will be used as pawns sad.

Interesting this. Ganic's fate is now in the hands of Westminster Magistrates Court. And lawyers will be descending on the place very quickly.

I'm not sure where he is going to end up.

"Why do you think Nasir Oric is walking free today, even though he bragged about his massacres and showed video footage to reporters?" - Dragan

Uh, well, I suspect it's probably b/c Oric knows a little thing or two about the Clinton Administrations alleged role in what happened in Srebrenicia.

Pz - The JNA were in the process of withdrawing from BiH when they were attacked. Their withdrawal was demanded by the UN Security Council resolution 752.

Nenad

pre 14 godina

True, the JNA is accused of commiting crimes in BiH, and those in charge have been put on trial, namely Momcilo Perisic. Many other JNA senior officers have likewise been tried for actions elsewhere (Sljivancinin, Mrksic, Strugar and the like). Let us remember that many of the JNA soldiers were boys doing their compulsory service at the time. When Slovenia was invaded by the JNA in July 1991, some of the JNA soldiers were in fact Slovenian, and when Croatia was attacked shortly thereafter, there were Macedonians and Albanians forced to the front lines. Such men wanted no part of these conflicts and the thought of them being attacked while peacefully withdrawing from Sarajevo is sickening.

Of course, Ganic claims that the Muslims weren't guilty of initiating the attack, but he can try to prove that in a court of law. I only hope that the Serbian judicial system is capable of conducting a fair trial -- if, in the end, the Brits would ship him off to Belgrade (and that could be a big "if").

Let's not get ahead of ourselves folks. I would love to see this terrorist rot in prison for the rest of his life, but I have a feeling Biden will pick up the phone and order his release. This is how things work unfortunately. Why do you think Nasir Oric is walking free today, even though he bragged about his massacres and showed video footage to reporters? Why is Djukanovic not in jail? Because he does what they tell him to do.
I will hold off on the celebrations until this criminal is behind bars for life.

“In May 1992, a retreating convoy of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) was attacked in this Sarajevo street.”
I see a paradox in all this. The charges were raised by Serbia because Mr. Ganic is believed to be involved in an attack carried out against JNA. Then why does Serbia say that war in Bosnia was between the ethnic groups living there. Why does Serbia refuse to accept the responsibility of all evil deeds done by JNA, while at the same time raises charges against those who, allegedly, conspired (or better saying fought back)?

Katherine

pre 14 godina

I am happy that Ganic will finally have to answer for the crime that was committed that day. If found guilty, this will be such an embarrassment for all of the naive people at Buckingham University who worked with Ganic to create the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology. I think that school is a great idea and is needed in Bosnia, but not with Ganic as President of it.

bganon

Lenard you need to get off your high horse for just one moment.

The point that you don't seem to want to look at is the attack on the JNA convoy that was leaving. Ganic is accused of being involved.

Do you support that attack - if so then I have to say that your lecturing of Serbs is hypocritical.

Alternatively do you think that those suspected of war crimes should be brought to justice ie do you think that only Serbs should be tried for suspected war crimes?

Radoslav

pre 14 godina

Lenard - Of course. Serbia is the big bad beast and Croatia is a picture of virtue and innocence, besides the fact that it committed the largest ethnic cleansing and genocide since WWII, and come to think of it, the largest genocide (as a % of the population) of a population in WWII. Croatia's "democracy" really is built on "solid" foundations. Croatia today is simply the most extreme far right country in Europe, bar none, and thanks to it's Vatican connections and allies i.e. germany and Austria, it's war criminals escape prosecution. It's just another re-run of WWII, where those in power helped Croat war criminals escape justice. Serbia may be ankle deep in blood, but Croatia is upto it's eyebrows in comparison. what goes around comes around though.

What a farce Serbia pressing charges where all war roads and grosses abuses of human rights not seen since WW2 lead directly to Serbias Belgrade. Why is not Serbia charging the hundreds of Serb murders still running around in the police ,army ,special forces and Serbias secret police or retired. Im sure Serbia has a lot of evidence on those murderers why are they not they being sought out and prosecuted. To tell the where abouts of still thousands of missing Croatians ,Bosniaks ,Albanians and other minorities kidnapped and taken to Serbia and never seen again. Who is Serbia trying to fool except its self what a farce. All war criminals find safety in Serbia as a benefactor of their evil where else from Mladić to Plasić.
